Obama the Christian?

This is a legitimate question. Obama has claimed to be a Christian since his 2008 campaign. DP liberals incessantly bash Christians and Christianity here on DP. My question is this....why haven't the DP libs bashed Obama on his alleged Christianity?
 
Why bash anyone based on their religion or religious beliefs? If that person is not forcing their beliefs on me or anyone else, I find no reason to be mean just because they have religious beliefs.

That doesn't make sense at all.

Agreed, yet it happens here regularly....but they live Obama alone. Weird.

It isn't 'CHristians' that get bashed so much as fundamentalist Christians, who are anti-science, anti-common sense, and want to legislate their morality and religious beliefs onto everyone else.

There is a vast difference in Christians as represented by, for example WCH or Logicman verses Kal'Stang and Goshin. There is a huge difference between Nota Bene and Tosca1.

How about because...

"Liberals" don't hate Christians

Lots of "liberals" (i.e. Democrats, leftists) are Christians

Obama doesn't seem to hold insane beliefs based on his religious beliefs, such as "Joshua built the Pyramids to store grain"

Obama doesn't believe that science is incompatible with religion

Obama's policies are not based on extremist religious views


By the way, Obama IS Christian, and has been for his entire life. Do you really not recall how people were freaking out over his association with Rev Wright, which started in the 1980s?

Whats' the matter? Having a crisis of faith? It is strange that Christians seem to need more and more cheerleaders to keep their faith. Do you think Jesus had no one who questioned him and his beliefs?

Very simply because.... unless someone is haranguing him about his religion, he keeps his religiosity to himself and his family. He's doesn't use it as an excuse to limit other's rights or privileges, unlike most of the Christians we atheists "bash" on DP.
 
The criteria for being a Christian is saying that you're a Christian.

Because the writings of Christians over the centuries are very clear on these subjects. Please, we also have to ask why Obama the Christian would bully nuns and force them to provide contraception against their conscious and Canon law.

Liberals love people of faith who don't practice their faith. They make for great poster children for liberal causes. Catholics who are pro-choice are a particular favourite. Pictures of Bill Clinton going to church with Hillary and Chelsea were also liberal favourites, even if Bill was banging the help every chance he got.

Liberals love hypocrites as long as those hypocrites love liberal causes.

Well, there are also Christians and Christian churches that are supportive of these things, so I don't see your point as clearly as you seem to believe it. I don't know anything about bullying nuns, can you put that into context with some sources please?

This is a pretty mean and pointless post. It is also untrue.

Ever ask yourself why candidates like Ben Carson on the right are harangued and ridiculed by CNN and other liberal media about religious beliefs but no candidate on the left is ever asked? Candidates on the left claim to be religious and that's it - it's a given and never touched again. Even with Obama and Reverend Wright, the media was apologetic for Obama, swooned over his statement, and let it be even after Reverend Wright basically called Obama a liar.

Every Republican candidate is asked about their religious beliefs and yet can you tell us what faith Hillary Clinton is? Bernie Sanders? Martin O'Malley (I'm guessing Irish Catholic)? Ever seen any of the Democrat candidates interrogated about their religious beliefs?

Liberals and their pals in the media simply claim that all Democrat candidates are religious, people of faith, because to claim otherwise would damage that candidate. They don't question it or dig into it at all - they just accept it.

This shouldn't be an issue at all for either party.

Umm, yes, your post was deliberately mean. I find that to be pointless. It is untrue, as well.

The fact is Republicans make far more of a spectacle and issue out of their religious beliefs than candidates on the Left. Why? I guess you guys want to know that stuff. We don't. It isn't an issue. When Carson is blabbering his insane talk and bringing up religious things, that is all on him. When little Dennis Kucinich was babbling on and on with his chants a decade ago, that was all on him. When Democratic candidates go to church with Jimmy Carter, it is a big deal in the party and for the candidate and their campaign. Nobody makes a big deal out of it beyond that, though, because it isn't a big deal for anybody else.

There is a difference here that you may not see because you either don't look, or you don't want to see it. That is fine. Just please don't be deliberately rude to those of us who grew up or still are Christians.

Please tell me what is going on with them. I won't be around all evening waiting for bits and pieces to back up your claim. Sorry, but that is the truth. I am not trying to be rude or rush you to get to the point, but this will probably be forgotten by tomorrow or whenever I come back around.
