Nonetheless, let me go one step further to "shoot down your kite". I am supposing that most people (not Trump though) make decisions thinking they are the right ones. Rarely does one find someone that has evil in their mind (unlike Trump). Everyone is human and open to mistakes (ever made a mistake marke?) and even more so when sitting at the top of the leader board such as being President of the United States. In addition, such decisions as you are talking about, are usually made after consulting your Cabinet, lawyers on checking the legality of it, and anyone else that can give you input into it.
Does every decision made by a President been the right one? Absolutely not! In fact, there is not one single President that you can't go back to and find something they did wrong, including Lincoln who chose a bi-partisan running mate in Andrew Johnson that turned out to be a huge mistake.
Did Obama gain any personal benefit from this decision?
