Obama plots largest gun grab in history, this is not a drill [W:231]

It looks like Obama wants the government to look through existing SSA records to enforce existing gun laws. What is wrong with that?

You see nothing wrong of stripping societies most vulnerable of their rights without due process? What's not wrong with that?

I don't know why you think Americans give a **** about what you need in your country when talking about our constitutional rights in our country.

As a superpower policing the rest of the world we do make checks on what you are up to let alone your constitutional rights.

You are scared of freedom. Im glad I live in a country that had Founders who fought for their freedom. You live in a country with a ripe history of oppression.

Ill stay here. Enjoy your bondage.

You can be our God! We still keep watch.

I don't believe in deities. You can be another one of our satellites. we will only demand reasonable tribute

I can see from a distance your freedom is being eroded on a piecemeal basis. The massive surveillance on you guys is second to none.

Yep. You clearly see that yet you want people to be disarmed for some reason. Typical lib, you want freedom...but only if its the freedom you approve.

and yet you want to accentuate that by advocating fascist gun laws

I find your concern fraudulent and best and most likely hypocritical

Liberals advocate freedoms they tend to exercise while wanting to end freedoms they see as being exercised mainly by conservatives

No it isn't-its not the least restrictive means and you cannot abrogate a constitutional right without due process of law. But its good to see Obama worshippers think the thug in chief can do no wrong. liberals-when you scrape away the sanctimonious faux love of mankind in general-basically hate people as individuals

As opposed to CONs who need no scraping to expose their utter contempt for those who don't get on the CON rant train?

Many sensible folks feel many mass attacks done by 'nice folks' (read as not urban habitual criminals) would have been blocked if the mental issues had been properly addressed, the clown who shot the lady congressman in AZ, the Conn school shooting, the idiot in a movie theater... oh almost forgot that guy who had the famous Hollywood parents who was a long time nut case but still was legal to buy a firearm...

I'll bet you one of my NRA hats there will be due process as well as a mechanism for those judged incompetent to pass their weapons to family members. Who knows might cut down on the SSA roles a bit. Thinking it's a win-win for those who want more off the 'dole' as well as more incompetent folks removed from deadly weapons.

Just makes sense, if I am too confused to handle simple bills, my grandmother had dementia and did some crazy things before finally enough was enough, I am glad her form was given to violent outbursts and she never owned a firearm.

"Get off my lawn!" makes a good line in a movie but most of Mr. Eastwood's movies are far more fantasy than reality, the fact is most neighbors who hate having a guy waving a rifle around outside, especially one of a caliber that can go through a man at point blank range and still punch through a wall and kill someone watching Faux Noise.... :peace

what is this silly drivel doing in this thread? there are lots of people who have someone handling their SS affairs who are not incompetent to exercise their pre-existing and recognized constitutional right to keep and bear arms. and since Obama is doing it without a congressional bill suggests that something foul is afoot

you last paragraph is really whacked BTW

Did you have enough guns to thwart the terrorist attack at a military site in Chattanooga?

Does anyone know how many shootings involve SSA recipients with a representative payee? I am assuming it must be a substantial number to warrant a program which would either ignore due process, or involve a fairly costly process if these were adjudicated individually.

yeah. I would have needed just one and knowledge who the target was. I'd could have killed that guy in half a second as could anyone with my grandmaster level shooting skills. Probably with skills far less

well Obama used his executive powers to prevent thousands of MI Garand rifles we gave to other allies from being reimported into the USA for collectors. The turd in chief claimed that it was because he didn't want these (obsolete) Weapons of wars on our streets. No one can find any evidence of Garands being used for street crime (I think I recall someone poaching a deer with one in Clermont county Ohio 35 years ago). Since actual factual misuse doesn't matter to Obama, why would he care about actual SS recipients with a RP, actually causing harm?

the ass wants to restrict people owning guns

This is a good time to remind people that the above post is why you don't give liberals an inch. It starts by taking guns away from people that are risks and before long it gets to the point where not being able to do things like handle a checkbook loses you your constitutional rights.

Remember, any tool you give them can be flipped, warped and mutilated to be used against you. What Obama is doing is a great example of that.

and your post shows us that regressives are unwilling to remove access to firearms from those understood to present such a risk that they pose a potential armed threat to our citizens

First of all, when your opponent has the views you have lets just say being called a regressive is not an insult. Second, you're right that I don't share the view that the government should remove people's rights to keep them safe.

another poster has fixated on that idiotic regressive nonsense (nothing is more regressive than wanting more and more government taking away more and more freedom) and apparently that stupidity is spreading.

the problem is-the real regressives want to disarm anyone who isn't a government minion and pretend its about public safety

uh sorry to burst your Obama love bubble but the federal ban only applies to those who have been adjudicated (repeat, Adjudicated) mentally incompetent. Subnormal intelligence applies to lots of people-I would argue many Obama voters

and the perfect should not become the enemy of the good
this executive action will not eliminate the gun problem, but should advance the public safety interest by depriving many of the mentally incompetent from being legal gun owners

sorry bubba but the constitution doesn't work that way. you don't want anyone to be legal handgun owners

notice how you are unable to acknowledge reality
i have shared in this thread that i am an owner of multiple firearms and a supporter of the second amendment
i do want to rid our streets of handguns because they provide too much advantage to the possessor seeking to inflict harm upon an unsuspecting innocent. want armed self defense, carry a long arm

Forgive me if I laugh at your use of opinion as fact. I'd say the silly drivel is on the millionaire's rabid 'gun rant' foot. There is no 'frozen in time' guarantee to keeping deadly weapons, ask a felon. Simple fact is many in the NRA pointed to a 'failed system' in health care for the mass murders, then of course back tracked on any meaningful process to effect such a screening process.

I'm sure guys like you with millions to spend and quite a bit of time on their hands will work like true patriots to 'right this wrong' and make sure due process is observed. (easy enough job as it will be so without the upper .5% lifting a finger or spending a dime)

But by ignoring mental health issues and flaws in the system (perhaps the rich and powerful running the NRA and their lobbying arm have a few screwy kids who they are shielding from official mental health evaluations like the Hollywood couple) just goes to show the NRA and their rabid supporters could care less about logic and will look the other way as mentally ill folks continue to has access to firearms.

And the 'angry old man' in his tiny assed yard pointing a VERY high powered rifle military rifle in 30 ought caliber at someone could have been extremely tragic if not for it being little more than a 'gun' nuts wet dream fantasy of a movie.

orrrr do you think it is utterly 'whack' for me to have multiple NRA hats??? ;)

I was a member when I worked at the Tacti-cool school so I could certify postal shoot targets and the wife and I shot F-class F-Tr.

We no longer go to Raton to shoot and i no longer work at the school so I dropped the NRA membership, still get the shrill fearmonger, money panhandling letters asking me to rejoin...

Seems the NRA is far more interested in playing on fears while raking in money than any sensible review of mental issues and deadly force.

But hey I have far more to fear from the 'gun grabber' libs than those who never served, I am a wounded vet with a 60% disability due to them, one a head wound could be used someday against me.

Yeah, let me work up some worry over that one and get back to you... :peace

1) you claim to own firearms-not relevant. I don't believe it but history is full of those who own arms and want to deny that right to others. Jet57 for example espouses the same position and I do believe he owns guns

2) you cannot support banning handguns and claim to be pro second amendment given the second amendment-as intended and as applied by the Supreme Court prevents handgun bans.

3) only someone completely foolish would advocate a housewife shopping for groceries or a cab driver in the inner city carry an long arm for self defense

It only proves to me you have absolutely NO CLUE about firearms or their uses

I cut down on some of your silly response to highlight what I have been saying all along-NRA hate is what motivates most of the anti gun drivel on this board
