Obama makes photo op to Dover AFB!!!!!

Well, yeah of course he does. Unfortunately, PH IV was part of the plan...so the mission wasn't over yet, technically.

Isn't that exactly what Bush said?

Iran's influence in the new GOI is evident...and terrifying.

Yeah but, they have a whole new ingredient adjusting their "influence." Called the Iranian people.

That's no excuse. We knew in 2003 what we had to do and weren't allowed to do it because no one would stand up to Rumsfeld and Abazaid.

No excuse, reality. No war goes as planned and there are massive mistakes made in every one.

Well then what is the biggest American mistake in modern warfare (defined as post Vietnam)?

The policy of mutually assured destruction. In my day, I actually rehearsed for nuclear war...in school. We'd have to crawl under our desks and put our heads between our knees. We had drills and sirens and the whole lot. It was made absolutely clear to the Soviet Union that any 9-11 size attack on our citizenry or military or allies would result in their annihalation. And we were serious. And I think the same should apply to the Middle East. You attack us and we think you know where there terrorists live and breathe...and the next 9-11 style attack will see the cities of Tehran and Damascus bombed into rubble. We don't care who is responsible. we don't care if you're standing there with a finger in your arse, we get hit again.....and we're gonna torch some serious real estate. After 9-11, I really wanted Bush to torch off a battlefield nuke high in the mountains in Afghanistan...just to show the world he'd do it in a second. And then remind those that facilitate terror...that the next would be a battlefield nuke detonated over one of their major cities and then see who wants to play. We lost our resolve to fight, THAT is America's worst mistake in modern times.

I don't remember that...I'll have to re-read the speech. I doubt he said "we will have a violent insurgency waiting for us and have to quell a bloody civil war". I'm pretty sure he didn't say that. But if you can prove me wrong, be my guest.

They have less influence than the Iraqi people.

No excuse, reality. No war goes as planned and there are massive mistakes made in every one.

Straw man. You can't say "well every war has mistakes, oh well". Tell all the dead Soldiers and Iraqis that. They are dead because of tactical incompetence that could have been prevented.

I wasn't thinking theoretically...more realistically.

Man, that is disturbing. I've heard drunk guys in bars say "nuke 'em all", but coming from you in this forum, I think is really warped. Innocent people would die and I would never agree with that. Plus it would be exactly what the terrorists wanted. Band Islamic resolve against the U.S.

He said the peace would take some time and be as difficult, but, yer gonna read what you want into it anyway.

Thanks to Bush, yes.

No...you cannot claim mistakes were made and then try to place blame, there are no wars where mistakes aren't made....by all sides.

Oh I'm sure you do hear drunk guys in bars say 'nuke em all', the "drunk guys" probably tell stories of what they hear liberal peaceniks say as well. Besides, I didn't say nuke em all, are you drinking right now?

Plus it would be exactly what the terrorists wanted. Band Islamic resolve against the U.S.

Looks as if you're unaware of why there was resolve in the first place.

Well, at the time, that's what we thought.

Mission changed.

You could argue that's been accomplished to.

"We'll see" said the Zen Master.

Loved that movie.
