Things will get worse. The deficit will now grow by nearly 800 billion dollars.
The Republicans who blackmailed the nation into this unholy bargain will use it to axe programs benefitting the middle class.
When SS is cut while the rich eat caviar and spit in our faces, the cauldron will boil and then boil over.
Rejoice today. We will all cry tomorrow.
Thanks Rush. Didn't catch the radio show today but the recap was delightful.
Truly, a stunning rebuttal that is the quintessential representation of your typical contribution. Perhaps though you might actually state something that is actually reasonably relevant?
I watched his press conference today. What a slimey dishonest douchebag. Nothing is ever his fault. He never met an issue he couldnt lie about. How anyone can support this guy is beyond me. Well...I got news for ya beeeyatch...
1-Its no longer the "Bush Tax Cuts. Its YOURS, bitch. Own it. Deal with it
2-Giving handouts to people by extending MORE benefits isnt a 'paycheck.' Its a government giveaway program.
3-To their discredit, republicans AGREED with extending the unemployment giveaways...they just wanted it PAID for using existing and unobligated stimulus dollars.
And for the record...you spent 45 minutes basically whining that a republican minority beat you to a pulp, even with a 59 vote Senate majority and a significant house majority. You suck as a 'leader'. You are a race baiting, class baiting imperialist hack. The Europeans have seen you for what you are. More and more Americans see you for what you are. If the country is lucky you will soon join the 20+ percent of unemployed Americans. Feel their pain, you worthless empty suit.
No threat against you as a person Turtle. Just a prediction of what I see ahead for us as a nation. My comments are geared toward the inevitable resolution of this issue that is inevitable. I had hope such unpleasantness would never happen in my time. I had hoped that Obama was indeed the hope and the rush towards a fascist corporate state where the rich ruled and the rest of us were on the road to serfdom was going to be avoided. But it looks like that has failed.

But I am now convinced we just took a big step towards that sort of evil.

Thanks to our prestigious president Obama.
They still have the majority in both Houses.
Are you trying to tell us (by your negative response) that Obama had no business being president??
It has nothing to do with whether the person is a rich liberal or a rich conservative, at the end of the day it is nothing but class warfare against the poor.
Maybe you should look at this video
Nature tends to be the biggest enemy of the poor
So are we to assume that after two years of unflagging support for the President that this was the straw that turned you against him?
Did I say that?
I do not remember saying that?
Maybe you can help me remember and quote what I wrote saying just that?
If you have EYES you have seen me on several occasions defending Obama (specifically on handling of the foreign and domestic terrorism issues). I have also been equally critical of Bush AND republicans for their wreckless spending. This goes beyond political ideology. So...nice try at the snarky smarmy comment.
From haymarket:

I do not want to see class warfare in the USA take place in the streets and have it taken to a physical level where people are hurt. I want to avoid that as it would destroy many people and perhaps destroy America itself.
The very rich have a choice. They can give up some of what they have taken for themselves going back thirty years when all this crap started with Reagan and restore the Middle Class to vibrancy, or they can continue to grab even more for themselves, attempt to politically silence the rest of us and allow the cauldron to boil over. If they do that, they will get what is coming to them. Sadly, lots of other people will suffer as well.
"Give up some of what they have taken"? Bub, the top 10% of taxpayers already pay 71% of the federal income tax. If you really wanted economic fairness, you'd be saying we need the fairtax, not higher taxes to punish the rich. The bottom 50% pay only 3% of Federal Income tax. More than 30% of taxpayers pay no federal income tax at all.
The Top 10 Percent of Income Earners Paid 71 Percent of Federal Income Tax
and the top 10% of income earners own 90% of the wealth.........so they SHOULD pay 71% of the income tax.
and the top 10% of income earners own 90% of the wealth.........so they SHOULD pay 71% of the income tax.
if those numbers are accurate - why should they then not pay 90% of the income tax?
so you think income and wealth are the same thing
that explains why your posts ooze error
We are in an era which spells danger for our nation, for our way of governing and for our way of life. America is a democratic republic and we cannot survive or even just thrive if we become a South American type nation where a small number live in luxurious splendor and the rest see a diminishing of their lives and property. Simply put, sooner or later it is going to hit the fan. You can get away with it in a authoritarian state - for a while - perhaps a long while. But in a representative democracy where the people can vote, sooner or later they will wake up and take action.
Reforms to stop this trend towards the South American model must start now. Sadly, the tax cut move yesterday only moved us closer to it.
Why do you think that the right wingers here are promoting the foolish scheme around the idea of "net taxpayers"? The see what is coming down the road and see depriving millions of their right to vote as the answer to their problems. There are pieces of the puzzle on the table - all you have to do is put them together.
In the end, it matters not if you want to play ostrich and drink the Kool aid of the ideology of selfishness. Others see what is happening and sooner or later they will act. I hope it is done within our democratic framework.
I would suggest you read this
Amazon.com: The Fourth Turning (9780767900461): William Strauss, Neil Howe: Books
It is NOT about ideology but about a theory of history that is extremely well researched and thought out. We are now already there .
Just look at the Citizens United case ruling and what it means for America. A right wing Supreme Court dominated by ideological extremists willingly wiped away a century of reform and voted to allow corporations the right to buy our democracy with unlimited monies. This comes at the same time that right wingers are floating this "net taxpayer"crap and setting the stage to attempt to restrict the democratic vote in this nation. Its all coming together in a very ugly way.
Have you got a link to any of this so I can verify what you've posted?
Her link would be this board. Some here said it might be more fair if those who didn't pay taxes couldn't vote to raise taxes on others. I guess that is "floating" the idea of taking away the right to vote.

Barb - thanks for the link on Fourth Turning. Beck really blew it in the video with his complete misinterpretation of the Tytler Cycle however. Like most things he uses, he cherry picks stuff and then totally turns it into a Frankenstein monster of the real deal. But what else is new?
And as for the links about taking away the vote, I provided a raft of them earlier.
