Obama: Bipartisan health deal may not be possible - Yahoo! News
WASHINGTON – After a day of debate and disagreement, President Barack Obama concluded Thursday's unprecedented live talkfest on health care with the bleak assessment that accord between Democrats and Republicans may not be possible. He rejected Republican preferences for seeking a step-by-step solution or simply starting over.
Obama strongly suggested that Democrats will try to pass a sweeping overhaul without GOP support, by using controversial Senate budget rules that would disallow filibusters. And then, he said, this fall's elections would write the verdict on who was right.
"We cannot have another yearlong debate about this," Obama said at the end of a 7 1/2-hour marathon policy session.
Neither side gave much ground, sticking mostly to familiar arguments and talking points. The president urged Republicans to "do a little soul searching" but said majority Democrats would decide quickly how to move forward on a priority that has eluded leaders for half a century.
Are you kidding me?I'm not a partisan but I've got to say Obama has shown a real desire to make something happen that both parties can support, the last year of his efforts are evidence of that enough for me.
Please... I'm dying to hear what all these lies are?The reason this won't happen is because conservatives are recalcitrant and spread lies about current policies in the hopper.
Really? it looks to me like its the Statists who arent getting there way... so much so that they apparently have to resort to the so called "Nuclear Option" to get there way despite the polls which have only 25% of the public approving this monstrosity.Republicans have been far from helpful and have in fact been acting like children who aren't getting their way.
If we go the way of the conservative ideas, our country fill fall financially and corporations will rule by proxy. Don't like tyranny? Well then don't vote Republican.
Please... I'm dying to hear what all these lies are?
While I can agree that George W spent way to much, I can hardly believe you would blame Republicans for the countries financial woes when Chairman Obama has outspent all other presidents before him combined in his first year. So much so your Grandchildren will still be paying for it.
What I found hilarious throughout the summit was Obama's arrogance and condescension. Everything the Republicans said was characterized as a "talking point" by Obama. (And of course, the Democrats are so above talking points!) This was just a silly show and a complete waste of time because Obama is way too arrogant to concede any points. As usual, this was merely a political tactic by Obama to give his administration some semblance of bipartisanship, without ever intending to truly reach across the isle.
Obama should concede a point after the Republicans admit they were lying about death panels to fire up the base.
No, the death panels are real.
Not yet, but it is the stated goal of all Liberal Democrats to eliminate the "Undesirables" just as Hitler and Stalin did. They weren't in the bill, therefore they cannot exist.

This lie springs from a provision in the House bill to have Medicare cover optional counseling on end-of-life care for any senior who requests it. This means that any patient, terminally ill or not, can request a special consultation with his or her physician about ventilators, feeding tubes, and other measures. Thus the House bill expands Medicare coverage, but without forcing anyone into end-of-life counseling.

The "death panels" point was not a lie. What was a lie, however, was Pelosi's claim that abortion is not included in the bill. That was a flagrant lie.
Obama's healthcare program with be like Soylent Green.
You mean eliminate them. How Hitleresque of you!The optional end-of-life counseling portion of the bill is what the Republicans cited to justify their death panel accusation. Everybody except some of their base decided that passed for lying.
Statements like this reveal how critical the need is to isolate Republicans from health care reform.

Like I said, you would rather Conservatiism be completely eliminated and a permanent Communist rule here in the US.Because politically marginalizing the minority party in Congress is too obvious a way to interpret my statement.
Right. Send 1/3 to 1/2 of the United States to death camps. Should be easy.
Like I said, you would rather Conservatiism be completely eliminated and a permanent Communist rule here in the US.
Wanna bet?? It's been the Left's stated desire to become a permanent one party state like the former USSR.Except he didn't say that, nor would any reasonable man believe that's what he thinks.

That implies you desire a strong liberal opposition.
Liberalism and conservatism are worse than pointless because countries that occupy military and economic superpower positions have a very limited number of viable foreign and domestic policy strategies available to them; generally speaking, what a superpower must do to survive and thrive is 'obvious' and is usually not wholly consistent with either liberal or conservative principle, historically or in contemporary times. The ideologies exist more for the sake of fulfilling basic psychological needs of adherents than enabling the government to make good military and economic decisions.
No, Liberalism (see also:Socialism, communism, Marxism, etc.) needs to be thrown in the dungheap of colossial failures.
Okay. So you do desire a conservative hegemony. But you want your political opponents to make room for you?
