One hundred per cent of all the people who have entered the United States illegally have committed a crime. It really is one of the easier stats to understand.
They may want it dealt with but I say again, NOT THE WAY OBAMA JUST DID IT. Just because you think it was taking too long you can't just change the law.But they want it done
It is absolutely true
Undocumented aliens are ineligible for work authorization. Legal immigration benefits the economy
My understanding is that even when authorities discover illegals, even those who have committed crimes, they are often not arrested or deported. Is this true?No one's contesting that. It's as obvious as it is irrelevant to the discussion.
There's a good probability that both you and I will violate or have already violated some Federal statute and won't be prosecuted simply because there are tens of thousands of federal laws and regulations that apply to us.
The executive selectively enforces laws because there isn't enough people or money to enforce all of them. That's reality.

You're right. The fact that you think the immigrantion system we have is unworkable doesn't give the president any power to do anything. What gives him that power is the law. I have already posted (several times in fact) the laws which grant the president the power to do what Obama has done. Chanting "He doesn't have the power to change the law" doesn't change the fact that Congress voted to give POTUS the power to do what Obama has done.

Selective enforcement of the law is what is happening.
I hardly think that was intended by any power given to the POTUS,
and it makes any debate about immigration policy pretty much pointless, if the POTUS is going to simply enforce what he wants to. This is the kind of stuff impeachments are made from.

It was alway the intention. Every executive, be it POTUD, a governor a mayor a police chief whatever has the power to determine priorities and allocate resources to meet those priorities. It has always been that way.

I have already stipulated that this is true, so i don't know why you think repeating it is somehow significant
No law was changed.
It is. It's a problem of a bloated Federal system. At this stage of the game we probably can't hire enough federal cops and judges to deal with what would happen if we decided to actually prosecute everyone who breaks federal law. I also guess we'd have a revolution on our hands if we did.
I agree the system is bloated, and I'll even go one further and say it doesn't matter which political party is in there concerning this subject because BOTH parties have had a hand in building the system to what it is...What I see as the problem, is that we are approaching, if not there already, a time where anyone, at any time can be stopped by Federal authorities, and taken off the streets, only to have charges thought up later, because after all we all have broken some statute without possibly even knowing it...Great tool for getting rid of political enemies in a burgeoning authoritarian society....
Well, if POTUS doesn't enforce it because we don't have the resources, that's once thing. Not enforcing it because it runs counter to political beliefs? I wonder what would happen if the president started to quit enforcing those pesky laws related to civil rights?
Then tell me why Obama said this:
Simple = because he's a politician
The fact that a politician says something doesn't mean that it is true
Oh my, *facepalm*.... I don't even think you believe that...
I think we both believe it
Do you believe that everything a politician says is true?
No, ofcourse not,
but you seem pretty selective in what you choose to believe or not believe coming out of a politicians mouth...
I'm glad we agree
Yes, using facts to decide if something is true or not is "pretty selective"
When you start using them let us know.
Why bother? There's little chance of you recognizing the facts
