NYT: We Were Badly Misled About the Event That Changed Our Lives

I have always bought the accidental lab leak theory as a possibility. For two reasons: 1) I do not believe that the Chinese government would willingly spread a virus. The CCP is deathly afraid of losing power, and if word ever got out that they did this on purpose -- especially as regards to the zero-COVID policy -- there would be hell for them to pay. In the CCP's minds, that would mean to confront the very real possibility that they could lose power. And before you say "Great Firewall," there are ways around it (or were then, anyway). And I don't think we would ever be able to verify that it was done intentionally to begin with.

2) Compared to other nations that have stronger scientific communities (US, Sweden, Germany, France, etc.), safety and regulations are lax. It is entirely possible that poorer safety protocols led to the leak. China is more stringent on government secrets than they are on lab research.

1. Great. Let’s start with the first one.
“People who read the report said the assessment was made with "low confidence," according to the Journal, referring to the lowest of three confidence intervals in the intelligence community.”
Then the cia. Low confidence

2. So you have no science. Let’s see the science that supports the lab leak theory as the predominant theory instead of political agencies.
You have yet to come up with positive evidence of a host animal. Until then, the prevailing theory is a lab leak. Live with it. You are the one subsisting on politics.

I have come up with far more scientific evidence that it was not a lab leak and instead a zoonotic transmission. . Sorry but the scientific prevailing theory is still toward a zoonotic transmission.

Face reality. You are the one subsisting on politics while I have scientific studies on my side.

Show us the host animal for Monkey Pox.
Monkey Pox does not have a specific alleged location and timing for original outbreaks. Your comrades on the left insist that Covid infected humans at the Wuhan wet markets. Should not be that hard to come up with a host animal.

Bats, transmitted to raccoon dogs at the meat market.

Scientific consensus is this is the most likely origin.

Let’s note again you’ve shown absolutely no evidence that the current scientific consensus is a lab leak. Nothing. Nada.

At least three infected lab workers likely would have been such evidence if the Chinese Govt shared the cultures.
Their cultures wouldn’t differ significantly from the Covid that first came to the us. And they may never had been cultured in the first place.

So what does any of this have to do with the effectiveness of the vaccines, or with how Trump handled it once it was here in the US?

Nice attempt at a deflection. We were talking about whether the Covid pandemic was the result of a lab leak or animal to human. If you want to talk about the vaccines or Trump's performance that's another subject.

I mistakenly thought you would get the point as you claim to be a medical professional. If they had shared the original cultures, they could have been compared to what was being developed in the Wuhan lab. And that's whether the original patients worked in the lab or just frequented the wet markets, and it is ridiculous to suggest they may have never been cultured.

cultures in the us could be compared to the wuhan lab. And as the studies I cited show, samples do not show genetic manipulation markers.
Second , it’s not ridiculous to think they weren’t cultured . First, for most younger people , getting Covid , even the original strain meant you got ill for a few days then went on with life. Why would you be cultured if you felt you had a simple influenza virus?
Second even if you were ill enough to seek medical attention, you likely wouldn’t get a culture but just get supportive care for your bad “ flu” . It wouldn’t be until people started dying unexpectedly or were sicker unexpectedly that you would think “ wait this is something new”.

And why is there a research center in Wuhan?

My "comrades"?

And....

It's a market.

People buy things.

People then eat the things they buy.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

So, let me know when a host animal is determined. Until then, and quite officially, the prevailing theory is a lab leak. And btw, last time I had a virus, I was cultured for both Covid and the flu.
