Any thoughts about what's happening in NY-26, the special election to replace “the topless ex-Rep. Chris Lee (R-NY).”

Rachel Maddow explained the other day that this is a blood red Republican district and yet recently polling shows the the three-way race to be highly competitive.

Excerpted from “NY-26: Dem Kathy Hochul in the lead in new DK/SEIU poll” ORIGINALLY POSTED TO DAILY KOS ON MON MAY 09, 2011 AT 11:20 AM PDT.
Public Policy Polling for Daily Kos and SEIU (5/5-8, likely voters, no trendlines):

Kathy Hochul (D): 35
Jane Corwin (R): 31
Jack Davis (T): 24
Ian Murphy (G): 2
Undecided: 8
(MoE: ±3.0%)

Ads like these have hurt the Republican:

Democrats are seeking to make this election into a referendum on the Paul Ryan budget.

Paul Ryans plan is failing slowly but surely and its failing because people are seeing it for what it really is...huge windfall for the richest americans at the expense of everyone else. Its more about tax cuts than it is debt reduction. Any working american that is for Ryans plan is just doing themselves harm.. No tax cuts for the richest americans...no tax increases either...cut entitlements but dont do a hatchet job just because you want too...there are so many areas that can be cut to end the deficit, start with all corporate party favors and foreign aid...how about bring the troops home...how about closing bases all over the world that are just there to aid that countries economy, why do we still have dozens of bases in germany...Make S Korea pay for our protection they are loaded, samsung, goldstar, hyndai, kia, LG....

the whole situation is crap. the "Tea Party" guy getting 24% (in a SEIU poll? any other polling available?) isn't a Tea Partier - he's a Democrat plant - a spoiler.

If he and Corwin are polling at a combined 55%, that hardly means that folks are rejecting the Ryan plan.

 but it's hardly surprising that Democrats are running demogougic and false advertisements. it's going to be hilarious to watch you people be desperate enough to cling to anything, anything to try to deny fiscal reality.

The ryan plan is getting more unpopular as time goes by CPwill...fact.org exposed some of the falsehoods ryan has been spewing...
Ryans plan is again a tax reduction plan for the richest americans and corps...it is not a debt reduction plan

 even your own link exposes that your (oft - almost obsessively - repeated) claim that Ryan is cutting taxes for the wealthy is bunk. I've gotten tired of explaining the same thing to you over and over only to watch you ignore logic and facts in favor of ranting. you're the anti-Ryan version of Navy Pride.

Does ryans plan...cut capitol gains taxs, does it cut inheritance taxs, does it cut income taxs for the 35% bracket rich and corporations...or does it not.
Im not anti ryan, im anti ryans plan.

does it cut all the loopholes and credits for the same people to the same degree that it cuts rates, thereby seeking revenue neutrality, which means that the taxes they pay don't change at all - only their compliance costs do...... yes it does.

but i'm not going to get drawn into another long explanation for you. you have your one idea, and you hold it foremost as you tramp around the forum, displaying it at every turn, unaware that you merely appear a troll and a fool. Have fun with that.

Im a troll and a fool because I dare to disagree with you...ok...btw in case you havent noticed YOUR all over the forum spouting the same cheerleaders cheers for ryans plan

I bring it up when it's relevant. Here, for example, the election was the central topic, and so that is what I focused on. Ryan's plan is simply a by-mention. It's all you seem to want to talk about - and you seem to have a single post that you simply hit "Ctrl-V" in every thread for.

Not really, Im not the best debater admittedly and im not the brightest star in the sky either, CPwill.
Im passionate about this because I see a pattern of pure callousness and greed coming from the teaparty. An arrogance that if your not rich and/or successful you dont deserve to share their air. I believe their creed is an assault on working people and their message is the debt is everyone fault but the rich.
I will apologize to you if my disagreeing with what you believe clash..or If I present what I believe in a way you find offensive or annoying...but I wont change my view on it :)

:) then I can only be delighted to tell you that you are wrong. There is no greed or callousness in my (or others') support for the Ryan plan. Only a deep desire to see America avoid a debt crises, and do so in a way that leads to prosperity rather than austerity. You are putting into our mouths a bizzare reverse-class-warfare that simply isn't there.
