NRA's LaPierre: "This Is The Most Dangerous Election Of Our Lifetimes"

Reason can win the day over passion, and put us on the right path

Yeah, it can. Unfortunately, most of the emotion and passion on the issue comes from the "gun-control" side. And citing a single statistic is, sorry to say, inflammatory and part and parcel of that kind of thing.

Why would a non-gun owner care how a gun works?

Let's see.... you live or work around them. You have friends or acquaintances who own them. You realize they exist in the world and that you ought to know how to deal with them..... All of my long-term girlfriends and acquaintances who spend large amounts of time around me have had to learn how a gun works because I own and carry firearms. They don't have to do anything more than learn how they work and how to safely handle/use them. Nothing more. However, they do need to do that much, for their own well-being.

DC had a gun ban for quite some time, when it was lifted via lawsuit by the NRA gun violence has gone up coincidentally or not in the time since.

Interesting, since in the states of Florida and Texas, where concealed carry has only been legal for a couple decades, there were dire suggestions of urban warfare, which have never appeared in either place. Somehow I doubt most of DC's gun issues have anything to do with LEGAL guns or LAWFUL gun owners.

Curious... so the modern second amendment philosophy basically translates to a slippery slope of everyone in society pursuing as many of the most powerful guns they can get!
What an industry!

No. The Second Amendment, both modern and historically was designed to ensure that the POPULACE/CITIZENRY had the opportunity to be as heavily armed as the Government (local and federal) in order to attempt to ensure that the government did not outgrow its boundaries. The private ownership of naval vessels, artillery pieces and cavalry equipment was standard procedure at the time the document was written, and I would suggest that the Founders would suggest today that so long as an individual can safely store and maintain a particular weapon they should be allowed to own it.

I hope they grow to meet the standards the 2nd amendment was written on.
I can't wait for a civil war!

Trust me it's coming, and probably sooner than you think.

I am looking toward the federal government suppressing any attempts to incite civil war with lethal force.

You might be surprised to find how many of their own people are likely to be fighting against them.

Thats the sweetest part. I hope they do try.

I think you missed something.... I meant the government employees (cops, military, etc...) would be fighting against the government, not the other way around.

They are screened for mental problems before they gain their positions.

Yes they are, and yet still most of them are considerably more Conservative than the average public sector employee. They get to see, firsthand, the problems of the liberal agendas this nation has embraced in the last several generations. They're the ones who have to deal with those mistakes.

why would they fight against themselves?

Most of them are Citizens before they are LEO's, soldiers, etc.... That's why.

Can you please source the military and the countries police forces being mostly conservatives.
I know conservatives like to play tough guy and assume everyone with a gun is tough like them and must also be conservative.
But Ive never seen any evidence of what youre talking about.
