I don't think that Goodson's offers it as a sandwich like in the photo in the OP. My first CFS was at the original Goodson's. Where no two table or chairs matched any other, the bathroom was a actual outhouse, out back. The sound of the old women cooks hand pounding the steaks with tenderizer mallets could be heard as soon as you entered the rickety building. Usually after waiting in line to get in and you could "bring your own bottle" as long as you kept it under the table. The gravy was hand made (no pioneer gravy powders) and came out in bowls, and yes even the smallest CFS dwarfed the plate it was served on. And the CFS were incredibly delicious, I was in my preteen years but for some while every time my parents asked my brother and I were we wanted to go to eat, we'd shout Goodson's!Based on the size, it may be,

Sorry to hear that, I went in the 70's, and it was old, but good food.I don't think that Goodson's offers it as a sandwich like in the photo in the OP. My first CFS was at the original Goodson's. I was in Houston a few years ago and we made the drive out to Tomball to check out this "new" Goodson's which has itself been open since the 90's. It was Goodson's in name only, the gravy was a powdered chicken stock based travesty and it was just an over all disappointment. The old saying still rings true, sometimes you can't go home.![]()
My parents had been eating there since the 70s, but did not take my brother and I until the 80s. We took a lot of out of towners and visiting family there too, it was that good. My first wife's father used to play with the children of the owner and some of the cooks. They would go to the back door after school and get fed fried catfish and chicken fried steak fingers or whatever else staff felt like making for the kids. He still says it was the best CFS he has ever had. He won't even go into the new one and he only lives a short drive from it.Sorry to hear that, I went in the 70's, and it was old, but good food.

You can die more quickly now, if you so desire. And no, I don't mean that to sound as mean as it probably does.![]()
Yeah, totally. They need to make big buns for those things. The buns are just laughable in these instances.
