It's just a coincidence I'm posting this today, but fitting, as my intent is to show how much we have to be thankful for.

Locals say rich parents were able to bribe authorities to spare a student from punishment.

North Korea has sentenced to death a man who smuggled and sold copies of the Netflix series “Squid Game” after authorities caught seven high school students watching the Korean-language global hit show, sources in the country told RFA.

The smuggler is said to have brought a copy of Squid Game into North Korea back from China and sold USB flash drives containing the series. Sources said his sentence would be carried out by firing squad.

A student who bought a drive received a life sentence, while six others who watched the show have been sentenced to five years hard labor, and teachers and school administrators have been fired and face banishment to work in remote mines or themselves, the sources said.

These are the types of people Trump mistakenly believed he could charm in face to face meetings, very naive.

While these meetings where occurring Lil Dic Kim was preparing his nukes.

So much for those luv letters.

Trump truly thought he could charm his way into deals. He is very naive. His learning process is much different than a normal person. Narcissists are controlled by their disorder. They are incapable of saying no to certain prompts, regardless of past failures. It's like trying to train monkeys. It doesn't matter how hard you slap the little beggers, every time you show them a banana, they're gonna grab it.

Anyway, enough about Trump. What will become of North Korea? Will the West sit by and watch the atrocities?

We have for the past 60 years. This kind of thing isn't exactly new for the Kims.

Apart from being a monstrous overreach, it's awful PR.

Young people worldwide will remember this for their entire lives.
I was thinking along the same lines. As heinous as these sentences are, it does show the ability of the people to circumvent Kim in communicating with the outside world.

Maybe it's time to introduce a new law here -

"As an online discussion on any topic expands beyond the opening post, the probability that someone will bring up Trump's name approaches 1"

Agreed, but the post is relevant.

So much in this photo.

I'm starting to like Rittenhouse, but would you shake hands with Kim? I wouldn't.

I liked what you said in the OP about us having so much to be thankful for. 👍 So true.

However I fail to see the relevance of the 2nd post to that. Seems to me it completely ignored your comment about thankfulness to change the focus to something entirely negative - i.e. Trump.

I wish Trump could tone things down a bit rhetorically, I do.
That said, he doesn't trigger me the way he triggers so many on the left (and even some on the right), and I think one reason is that those he does trigger improperly equate his tactics with his strategies. Big, big mistake in general, but especially with people like Trump.

Would I shake hands with Kim? Hell no. But I'd shake Trump's hand in a heartbeat.

There ought to be a death penalty for anyone who watched the Kardashians, Jersey Shore, or any of those other crappy shows that I dont like...

I agree. It's not about Trump. No president has done anything about the Kim dynasty. Trump was just the latest to fail, however flamboyantly.

Yes, one can't be solemn and partisan at the same time. This is a day for unity, if only for the turkey. A general comment on politics can be made, however.

If we stop the tribalism for a second, stop seeing our political opponents as enemies, stop calling the other side dictatorial, we can look around us and see what actual totalitarian rule looks like.

I'm thankful for what I have, for the freedom I enjoy in this country, and the traditions we hold, a day of thanks being one.

While we argue rhetorical wars on "the holidays" (always perpetrated by liberals, somehow), my heart goes out to the North Korean people. Being free doesn't do a thing for the helplessness I feel the world community has shown, but I most certainly cherish that freedom.

That is a true feast for the eyes. Thank you!

Melania left her glass dragon dick out (again!)

At least there was an actual crime involved. Saudi Arabia executes people for sorcery and nobody in the West objects. They're still pandered to and treated as a trusted ally. It would be hypocritical and cowardly to take steps against Korea while ignoring Saudi atrocities.

Rather strict "border control" rules in the DPRK, eh wot?

But it WILL cut down on "illegal entry" - won't it?

<SARC>Maybe the US government should consider simply machine gunning people attempting to cross the US-Mexican border.</SARC>

If they thought they could get away with it, I don't think they'd blink.

If I was stuck in North Korea, I would NOT be having children, and any I did have I'd make sure they knew what they faced if they got caught this way, and police them relentlessly.

Because that's what I'd owe them for trapping them in North Korea with me. That or escape.

The crime is smuggling banned media, not illegal entry. Those punished are North Korean citizens.

Just watching banned media is punishable by death.

The law, promulgated last year, carries a maximum penalty of death for watching, keeping, or distributing media from capitalist countries, particularly from South Korea and the U.S.

See, if I was a North Korean authority, I would be piping Squid Game into everybody’s homes. You can’t watch that and think, “Yeah, this makes South Korean society look healthy.”

It features a North Korean refugee and thief, and ultimately a South Korean girl trades her own life to save her, in part because she feels sorry for her hardships.

I think that is the main objection.

True.
