MSNBC is showing exit poll data for several states. One question that was asked of North Carolina voters is who has the temperament to be President?

These were the results:

Only Biden - 48%
Only Trump - 43%

That's not an encouraging sign for Trump.

Exit polls looked bad for Trump in 2016. Look how that turned out.

That's very encouraging! I need all the good news I can get.

I would not really look at the exit poll data either way. It's questionable in most years, but especially this year with the sizeable shift in the way everyone is voting.

Trump wished he didn’t have a record to run on today. Hillary sucked. 2020 is a whole new ballgame.

The exit polls did not look bad for Trump in 2016. I seriously doubt that Trump got such low marks in the exit polls in North Carolina in 2016, especially since he won the state.

I disagree completely. The fact that Trump is only at 43% in a Southern state that he won fairly easily in 2016 is not good for him at all.

These are not telephone polls. The margin of error for exit polls is much smaller.

Exit polls had Clinton winning in 2016, so FFS, please ignore, mmmmkay?

Due to sampling issues that is not true at all. Exit polls, especially recently, are often off by more than standard polls. This year especially, with people changing the manner in which they vote nationwide, I would be extremely hesitant to rely on them.

No, they did not. The exit polls in North Carolina in 2016 did not show Trump losing by freaking 5%.

The telephone polls had Clinton winning nationwide by 2% - 3%, and she won by 2%.

Temperament??? Thats what they asked?

That's not really a great question to bank on. Trumpists are glad he is a loud angry asshole. Trumpists are glad he's a sociopathic weapon aimed at what they see as their enemy tribe. I'm sure any number of them would happily tell you that Biden has temperment to be president, which is why they're voting Trump.

These are people who cheered when he ripped children from parents, deported parents, and paid no attention to tracking them. Imagine that. You're 5. Your parents aren't killed. They just vanish. And you don't know. And you never see them again. Because you're brown.

These are people who cheered when they learned Trump killed a testing plan because he thought it to his advantage to let people die in blue states, so he could blame blue governors.

These are people who think compassion and empathy are sins, callous cruelty the greatest virtue.

These are not people who are looking for competent and steady leadership of all Americans. They want a weapon.

I seriously doubt that Trump did this poorly in the N. Carolina exit polling in 2016.

Well they update them after election day so I can't find exactly what was reported election night 2016, but it was markedly better for Clinton then she ended up doing. And what you posted isn't even a result. It's a proxy about who has the temperament to be president.

I don't disagree completely. But I will be surprised if Trump gets more than 47% - 48% of the vote in N. Carolina, based on this. Maybe that will be enough for him to eek out victory in the state, maybe not.

I'm probably just going to go downstairs and read for the evening, at least after the kiddo is away. That or play computer games. At least it's not like 2016, when we went out to dinner with friends but I looked at the numbers right up to leaving and saw that things looked bad.

I'm aware of that. But if 43% of N. Carolina voters feel that he doesn't have the temperament to be President, then I don't think his ceiling is much higher than this.

I'm confident that Biden is going to win tonight. I posted an article yesterday that made me feel a lot better when I read it. A pollster who predicted that Trump was going to win in 2016 stated that Biden would win this election easily, based on the data that he's been looking at for the past 6 months. It's a good read. --

But I definitely understand your apprehension.

Actually they did. By this time in 2016, most of us knew there was a good chance that the moron would beat the former president's wife.

43% for Trump? That's actually good news for Trump, but bad for America...or at least NC.

They asked the same question in Michigan and I believe Trump was at 40%. Biden had over 50%.

some still claim that the exit polls should have determined who was president-not the actual votes

Exit polls tend to be misleading. I'll wait till the final results, thank you very much. While I personally hope that is the case, I'll wait till the final results are in.
