Abbott in TX and DeSantis in FL, judging by the following numbers and trends, are exactly what the G.O.P. needs in those two states but are either what the vast majorities, white or other, of those two states or of the U.S., benefit from the :"efforts" of in any meaningful way?
Or, does public service, working for the public good, come down to soothing the dissatisfaction of least educated white voters?

Would a trend towards governance less responsive to dissatisfaction of least educated white voters and more responsive to dissatisfaction of every one else be more beneficial, even to dissatisfied, least educated white voters?

In the nine remaining states of population greater than 80 percent white, non-hispanic.
18 U.S. Senators represent just 13 million white, non-hispanics.
7 of these caucus with democrats of five of the nine states, representing 5,500,000 white, n-h
11 of these caucus with republicans of seven (ME, MT 2 Dem, 2 GOP) of the nine states, representing 8,400,000 white, n-h

Only New Hampshire and Vermont stand out in educational attainment, 1,775,000 combined white, n-h pop.

One of the problems with the least educated is they tend to be swayed by fake information and more prone to extremist belief in religion and conspiracies. You tend to see more abuse of the law leaning toward personal convictions when the state coddles one area of its populous.
Those last on your list are perfect examples of this. When this pool is large, it elects government to reflect their values, and not necessarily to protect them from harm.

So far we are seeing their laws reflect less protection for women and children because of it.

I don't know, but seems to matter.
