No state has an unemployment rate higher than California's. Why isn't the state's huge deficit spending stimulating growth?

All you ever hear is how government spending is necessary for a good economy. Maxine Waters once said spending cuts would destroy every job in America and millions in other countries. California has by far the biggest budget of any state, but the state hasn't had its unemployment rate below the national average in decades, and it's always near the bottom when quarter GDP growth is calculated. It also has one of the highest minimum wages in the country, but if you're one of Gavin Newsom's buddies you can still pay the federal minimum wage. I was always told the consumer spending as a result of a higher minimum wage would be like rocket fuel to the economy.

What gives?

The best part is the state is losing tax revenue due to the departure of businesses and taxpayers. When Gavin Newsom proposed a California exit tax all I could think is I guess if a Californian is suicidal, banging on a door in Texas in demand of money would be a way to accomplish their goal.

CA doesn't have the highest unemployment rate. DC does. Next come NV and CA, tied.

I get your point but I wanted to clarify that. People throw out nonsense about CA all the time, usually making it look as bad as possible.

I changed the phrasing of my title because of that.😁

DC isn't a state, and Nevada's isn't higher.

What state as an unemployment rate higher than California's?

DC.

Next highest are CA and NV, tied.

As I said, I get your point even though your conclusion was wrong. I just get tired of CA being listed as !!!!the worst!!!! on anything and everything (even if to make a point). It's an American tradition, I get it, but why not use DC or Nevada instead? Why was it automatically CA? Not because Pubs have their narrative, right?

California also has the 4th largest economy in the world.. The WORLD.. Funny how Trumpsters never mention that.. Lol

Things change. New York used to be the second largest economy in the world after the US as a whole. Now making fun of it feels like punching downwards. The state still hasn't reached its pre-covid employment level.

Well, hold onto the dream.

Also, pssst, NY was never the second-highest economy in the world.

In the meantime...

Every state that experienced economic growth last quarter voted for Trump.

I guess no one told you the bullshit detector joke stopped being funny 40 years ago.

But I’ll play along. Yours appears to be broken. I’ll help you calibrate it.

Thank you. It is just a bullshit detector. It is not infallible.

But it is pretty strong.

And for those who are confused:

Awesome. I’ll read it later.

Is anyone going to answer the OP?

I thought you were going to calibrate my bullshit detector by showing where New York was the 2nd largest economy in the world and also the 3.0% increase in GDP last quarter was confined to the states which voted for Trump while states that voted for Harris were a drag on that number.

Thanks!

Sure. The state by state breakdown for quarter two isn’t available yet. It’s only available for the contraction that made the left so happy.

Jesus Christ! Nebraska! IOWA!

****!

What about Iowa? Your bullshit detector indicated a state that w didn’t go for Trump experienced growth. Stay ok task.

Last I checked D.C. was not a state

Unless you have some Breaking News for us.

Duh. But the data is included in state data, you'll notice.

Also, NV is still tied with CA.

So why doesn't this post start with how no other "state" has a higher unemployment rate than Nevada?

CA jealousy is amazing. CDS.
