No resolutions for me, but here’s hoping there’s a reckoning for Trump

I resolve to neither renew old New Year’s resolutions nor add any new ones. I do, however, fervently wish that 2023 will bring about a reckoning between Donald Trump and the law; that in the new year, the former president will be called to account for betraying his oath of office — and, if there is sufficient evidence to prove he has committed other crimes, that he be indicted. Neither is too much to hope for, and both are much desired. Trump, who is divisive and demagogic at home and favors autocratic regimes abroad, is the United States’ greatest scourge on public service in the 21st century.

Good editorial. Trump tried to take over the US government with violence. No prior President even thought of such a horrible act.

Bla, bla, bla….TDS.

"As commander in chief, Trump had the capacity to marshal the power of the U.S. government to stop the blatant attack on a constitutional process. For more than three hours — 187 minutes, as the committee clocked it — Trump sat back and didn’t lift a finger.

Despite his sworn obligation to “protect and defend the Constitution,” Trump shamefully and shamelessly violated his oath."

Think positive: You have witnessed the worst president in U.S. History. He made Bush look good.

No president has caused near the damage as Trump. However, he did not just walk to the Oval Office accidentally---it took the greatest act of mass irresponsibility/stupidity in American History to get him there in 2016. Most elections for president since the 1790s have had a wacko running somewhere, but the people never allowed them to take the office.
If this nation falls in my lifetime, which it nearly did on Jan. 6th of 2021, then we have seen the fuse lit already.

I am with you. If we do nothing to hold DJT and his ilk accountable, it may well be the beginning of the end for this nation---the very nation we have defended with so many lives for 240 years.

Well said. Agree.

I love consistency, even if it is pathetic, like this classic Trumper response of yours...

News for ya = WE aren't the ones defending/worshipping DJT as you do. We defend the nation, which is the stuff you block out...
They treat Trump as a Messiah. He was born without sin.

Its a shame that Congress chose not to impeach him on that.
Perhaps a focus on that would have placed sufficient pressure on the Senate to convict.

But, no-- the Democrats had to overplay their hand.
