Sure they have the federal min wage, but nobody works remotely that cheaply.

Why do you think that is?

Why do the "greedy" businesses not pay the least amount legally required?

Instead they pay much much more to the very lowest earners there.

Also a reminder, the typical Alabamian has a higher inflation adjusted income than new york or california, by a substantial margin.

Because most employers value their employees and their skills. And they compete for employees with other businesses.

Isn't Walmart the biggest employer in Alabama? Who is Walmart competing with for better employees and skills?

Have you invested the Walmart employment package? Do so and get back to us.

I'm not sure I get the point, here.
I'm pointing out things aren't working out the way a lot of liberals out discussed with think they do.

Businesses aren't just paying the least they can possibly legally pay workers.

An Alabama effectively has no minimum wage and yet it's prospering is a state with a high standard of living, even harder than California and New York.

Alabama is ranked 44th out of 50. Wtf are you trying to claim?

Let me spell it out for you.
There is a federal minimum wage. Alabama employers all pay more than that.
And it's cheaper to live in McMullen AL., population 10, than the upper east side of NYC.

Does that help?

Yeah areas of little to no economic development tend to be cheaper then areas of lots of economic development. Nobody argues that.

That is per capita. Which greatly overstates the "typical" person's income, and way more so in places with high income inequality like new york and cali.

When looking at adjusted median income (which best captures the "typical" standard of living), alabama tops those states.

Imagine bragging about a state having a $7.25 minimum wage because they’re reliant on the federal law and thinking that’s a good thing.

Or about this:

Or being ranked 45/50 on the happiness of your residents:

Alabama…knocking it out of the park 😂

The people are broke, their infrastructure sucks, their education sucks, their healthcare sucks…and people are some of the most unhappy in the nation. 😂

And the OP is bragging about it?

Well you had to find something negative since they're crushing cali in New York on standard of living.

And if you had found out that they were among the happiest you would just said it's because they're stupid rednecks. Lol

Alabama

Alabama ranks fifth in the nation for quality of living metrics due to trouble in its education, healthcare, and infrastructure systems. Education Weekly's Quality Counts analysis gave the state a D+ due to low levels of student performance and a slow rate of improvement. Alabama's residents have the lowest level of access to providers in the country, while rates of depression, obesity, and diabetes are some of the nation's highest

5th - as in 5th WORST standard of living in the US.

Guess who is #1? As in best?

NY.

The only thing Alabama is ranked near the top (highest) for is AFFORDABILITY.

Because the place is garbage and it’s cheap to live there because…it’s Alabama. 🤷‍♀️

You know what else was affordable? Yugos. Doesn’t make them a good car. In fact, their considered one of the worst cars ever.

They have that in common with Alabama.

I live in Alabama. I know how it is here, and we have the rock-bottom federal minimum wage - $7.25.

Okay, let's try that using median household income.

Median Household IncomePrice ParityAdjusted Median Household Income
California$84,907$1.12$75,810
New York$74,314$1.08$68,809
Alabama$53,913$0.88$61,265
