NJ Schools on Lockdown

Sorry Rich. Something I missed earlier.

Are you confusing your gun prohibition stance for an alcohol prohibition stance?

No, I don't think so.

A question for you though RF, are you in favor of the US government banning anything ?

That is to say any item, object or thing (clarification made as TurtleTude crassly said he'd ban gun banners, ignoring the distinction between anyTHING and anyONE).

I shot a mugger. that caused the LEAST amount of damage to him, the other mugger and me....

You know lawyers advice against that as it might undermine your legal case for the necessary lethal use of force.

A lawyer with 30 years experience in prosecution would know this.

Well given I was commended by both the courts and the DA, along with the Chief of Police, it appears you haven't a clue what you are talking about.

Now you are a legal scholar?

Nothing he has ever posted, suggests any familiarity with our constitutional theory, laws or statutes

Please refer to the word ONLY and explain what you think it means in this case.

Probably means that the two reasons you gave for me needing my guns while you were asserting that I didn't need my guns were all you could think of.

You have to admit that you talking about a prohibition in terms of the livers it would save was pretty funny.

Do you have a list of things you would like to see banned? Name a couple and we can see if we agree.

Well yes: guns

I was asking you if you think the USA should ban anything (as in any item/object/thing as opposed to anyone)

Well is there. Is there anything you think the USA should ban.

Not guns. As you explained, I need those.

Got anything else you're keen on banning?

It doesn't matter. You supplied two and wrecked your own claim that there were none.

No others than those two.

Though I did mention a possibility for use as a door stop or paperweight

You're dodging the question aren't you ?

I asked YOU if you felt the US government should ban anything (meaning anything physical you can hold, any item, object or physical thing?

Not V-8 engines. I know you aren't too fond of those.

Do you have anything specific in mind? I don't think they should have banned lawn darts either.

Where did I say that ?

Well I think guns should be banned - most of them anyway

You're still avoiding the question aren't you, do you think the USA should ban anything (meaning physical thing like an item or object) ?

It's still legal to have lawn darts though so it's not a ban on them.

Should the USA ban anything ?

Good. I'm glad you aren't wanting to ban V-8 engines. I need both of mine.

I figured there weren't any lawn dart police going around confiscating them. I believe they're banned for sale as such, but there's a work-around in buying a kit and assembling it yourself.

I'm not avoiding the question so much as simply not desiring to chase you through an extended round of false equivalencies and the like.

Besides, as I've often seen you point out when confronted with a troubling analogy; this is about guns.

I don't have a need of one and only drove a truck with one once - and it was fun.

Sadly they seem to be disappearing now, I believe the Ford Raptor is now only offered with a V6 turbo now. Though I sure you could always fit a v8 in it if you really wanted to.
Ford seem to think a v6 is adequate.

I figured as much, but does that count as a ban though, or just a ban on new sales?
Since you can still have them and buy them on E-Bay, it doesn't meet my criteria for a ban.

You're avoiding the question

Is there anything (meaning any physical thing, item or object including an aggregate/powder) that you'd be in favor of the US government banning ?

That means a real ban, make it illegal to have one/it

Besides, as I've often seen you point out when confronted with a troubling analogy; this is about guns.

It is, specifically about gun control and bans - and you can include a type of gun if you want to.

You are quick to accuse me of dodging the question or "moving the goal posts"; have we found a topic that's too uncomfortable for you to answer ?

If you have some specific bait I would likely be happy to discuss it with you; but I'm not getting wrapped up in such a widely cast net as you desire.

I know

I've read that the bulk of his supporters are white males with no college education

I would categorize them as flag waving, chest pounding "Patriots". Probably intolerant to minority groups as proud of their 'Merica culture.

Fact is that Republicans take their votes but give them nothing.

As opposed to the Dems, who give the avg American worker/common man/etc., rising wages like used to be had while productivity rose.

Dodge noted.

So you're not prepared to say that there is anything (item, object, physical thing you can touch) that the USA should ban ?

Are you saying that all government bans are wrong (ban meaning you're not allowed by law to have it/them/one) ?

You're refusal to answer opens a wide chasm in your opposition to gun control. You do oppose gun control don't you ?

The Democratic party is the friend of the common man. The Republican party dumps on us.

But the GOP wraps their crap in a stars and stripes flag and calls it "freedom" and hopes most American are too stupid to see the difference.

I have to say. That is a far cry from being free.

Again, our gun obsession gives one pause. It is high time for us to enact some effective gun control.
But they should be safe in NJ with their super strict gun control.
