The worst part about Powell was that people actually had him in high regard. I don't think Haley has the same gravitas.

I agree. I was a big fan of Powell, but the fact that he has not yet come clean about his deceptions, all these years later, leaves me nothing to work with. He has not redeemed himself yet with an honest statement.

Someone's not paying attention. Haley is a rising star, people are already talking about her as the first female POTUS.

Actually, Powell did comment about how he regretted following the Bush WMD position with Iraq.

As far as Nikki Haley is concerned, she was given this job by Trump so that Trump's buddy - who was the South Carolina Lt. Governor at the time - could be awarded the governorship. Haley was actually a critic of Trump and Trump doesn't reward his critic's unless there is something in it for him.

As far as Haley being a "rising star", the minute she gets on the national political stage (election wise) her extra-marital affairs will sink her.

I guess in his book Powell said the CIA gave him bad information. A half-hearted admission, blaming others. Better than nothing I guess. Thanks for the info.

May be too many rumors about her family for that to happen. First off, she will be accused of not being a Christian (her parents are Indian and until recently wore the traditional headwear). Then there are rumors that her parents store (which she managed) was a front for money laundering, she has a sister who is a middle eastern citizen, etc.

That type of stuff didn't stop Obama from being elected, but I don't think that conservatives are as tolerant. She would have to pick up a heck of a lot of swing voters to win. I personally think that she is a decent person.

Uhh...not to get into the "everything is Iran's fault" camp, but what you posted is in no comparison to what Powell did and Haley doesn't even have to be wrong. For one, the missile was indeed fired so there is no false reporting or analysis there (unless you're saying the whole thing is made up and nothing was fired). Secondly, a missile cal both be of Soviet make an Iranian, if Iran is the country that is supplying them.

Because that's sunk all the other Presidents that have had the same issue (Bill, Trump, JFK, Thomas Jefferson with a slave), ect. ect. ect.)?

I don't know if she will ever run for President, or be successful, but those things you mentioned will be overlooked by her strong pro-Israel position and history.

I gave up on him after the UN presentation. He was falling on his sword for Bush/Cheney. A lot of Americans died because Powell sold them up the river by selling that dumb war. A lot of people believed that Powell believed what he was saying. He knew a lot of it was bunk.

He actually commented on it publicly many years ago. I watched his interview on CSPAN. Said it was a decision that he has regretted many times over.

And how many of those you mentioned were female? Not to mention in a different era or different century..
You are comparing apples to watermelons and hoping for a direct correlation. Time will tell which one of us is right.......

That said, her association with Trump alone will be enough to do her in. Trumps 32% base wont be near enough for him or her in the future....
