In the opinion of this Democrat, Free Staters are the single biggest threat the state is facing today. There is, legally, nothing we can do to prevent them from moving here to take over the state, which is their openly stated goal. In this country you can move anywhere you choose and they have that same right. What we can do is to make the environment here so unwelcoming that some will choose not to come, and some may actually leave. One way is to pass measures that will restrict the "freedoms" that they think they will find here. Another is to shine the bright light of publicity on who they are and why they are coming. They can not put their ideology into our statutes unless we elect them in great enough numbers to take over our General Court. We have already seen them try during the last session of the General Court. Our last election was a repudiation of their extremism.

Of course, she also wrote a paean to Saul Alinksy, "A Hero You May Never Have Heard Of."

In Texas we are doing our best to repel liberals by passing laws like concealed carry, an expedited death penalty, mandatory ultrasounds for women who want abortions, mandatory teaching of creationism in schools, mandatory armed guards at public schools, and so on. Mostly, we rely on the fact that when they come here they can't find a lot of the government services and policies that they are used to, like free aromatherapy for anthropogenic global warming traumatic syndrome, an extra layer of environmental regulations on top of those imposed by the feds, closed union shops, and the like. But it's not working. Unemployment in blue states is so bad that they come to Texas for a job anyway. We hope that the Texas ethos will rub off on them so that they won't try turn Texas into the sort of depressed blue state they left, but being liberals they are probably refractory to self examination and new ideas. Our only hope is to keep them penned up in Austin.

You're about to lose Texas in its entirety. The state is going to become mostly minority in 1-2 decades.

Then you will suffer some really ugly payback. And I will be here to laugh when it happens.

Not to worry. All the Mexican-Americans will be conservatives by then. They are already fairly socially conservative.

i would recommend you go a luittle further in that case. High tax rates will certainly drive people and corporations to other places with less state taxes. you could have sherrif joe from arizona come to your state and become glorious leader of texas. I am sure mandatory firearm possession will help your cause. I know i would love to go to a state with a bunch of crazy rednecks with mandatory firearms and drive through liquor stores. make mandatory church attendance also. That would help. You could make country music the only music in the state. That should drive the sane away in mass numbers. Only two jobs for women, prostitute and housewife.

Just one thing, you want to make it easy for people with a brain to escape until your education system is so fail they cannot get out. Perhaps you could offer some form of real education for any liberal or progressive looking to leave? How the hell are you supposed to get a job outside of texas when your main education is biblical? You have to think about how you are trapping people in if you want to drive them away.

Does not surprise me that freedom is not particularly high on your list of priorities.
