NFL Teams Face Backlash For Male Cheerleaders

Exactly it's just sexuality and it's quite a normal sexuality. People bent over backwards to accept my sexuality I think it's time to return the favor and that's the way it should be seen.

and to be fair

at a 99.9 % gay man event where mean are the eye candy, I'd not expect them to hire heterosexual women for political correctness

wouldn't make sense

You think they're after the male gaze?

of course women use their sexuality and looks at every advantage they can, its a platform to better things too

With only 41 home games per season, annual earnings can range from $8,000 to $35,000, depending on the team and game pay.
its not like they're in it for the fantastic money they make, right ? its fun, its some $$$ .... but its also stepping stones to modeling, fitness careers, marrying an NBA player, connections with rich people ..... and I support that 100%

fantastic for her, I hope it opens many doors

You'll be surprised at the efforts it took to establish things like privacy, personal space, motor skills, etc. As I mentioned, most Americans couldn't swim-they had no interest in using their body.

I'm not trigered by male cheerleaders as much as I'm confused by why cheerleaders are needed at all.
Then again many of them would freeze to death cheerleading at football games in the UK so it's probobly for the best they don't exist here.
Imma beat my American chest a little and say that you can't possibly say that when we played football in -12F weather while your coldest winter was only -2F.

Yeah thinking that cheerleaders who cheer in places like Green Bay or Buffalo would freeze to death if they had to cheer in the UK shows some strange ignorance.

"The people expressing outrage over male cheerleaders on the Vikings aren’t talking about work ethic, talent or dedication. Their complaints are even more baseless than the Monday Morning Quarterbacks – a term created to address those who criticize players with the benefit of hindsight.

This isn’t about performance at all. It’s about presence. It’s about the mere existence and visibility of men on NFL cheer squads who don’t conform to the rigid, outdated ideas of masculinity that so many use sport, and football in particular, to defend.

What this backlash really reveals is not fear of change, but fear of visibility. The outrage over male cheerleaders isn’t about sports. It’s about control: over masculinity, over image, and over who gets to be seen and celebrated in public spaces or on the global stage of the NFL. It’s the same impulse that drives anti-LBGTQ+ legislation, the same fear that fuels book bans, bathroom bills, and attacks on drag performers. This moment isn’t isolated; it’s part of a broader cultural backlash to liberation."

Outrage over male cheerleaders is really about attempts to control masculinity

The issue reminds me of tge right-wing effirt to eliminate transgenders from public life.

Julius effort that the guardian made up for right to the conspiracy theory

It's all just faddish.

It seems like The fad is all women cheerleaders. Make cheerleaders have been a thing since cheerleading became a thing in fact it was strictly male for the first couple of decades it existed. Ronald Reagan was a cheerleader Dwight Eisenhower was a cheerleader and this wasn't strange in their day when they were in high school and in college. I think probably up until about the last 40 years maybe 50 years and professional sports male cheerleaders have always been a thing.

It was the Dallas Cowboys who turned cheerleaders into virgin-whores in the 1970s.

Excellent post! Well presented.

I don't think there is ONE answer. Beside we have transsexual rights to consider.

One thing I LOVE about professional hockey.....no cheerleaders! Only here, where we have a pretend NHL team they have a guy in a suit supposed to be an Orca whale.

One of the reasons I only attend Canucks games when there is a top tier team competing and there is a chance for them to win. I don't get to many NHL games
The problem with hockey is it has two half times.

When was this?

"Since the 1972 squad consisted of adults, this allowed the possibility of again redesigning the uniforms to introduce a more revealing look (most notably transitioning from the traditional cheerleader skirt to hot pants) closer to the classic DCC image that is known today."

So wearing revealing clothing makes your whore?

The more you offer your hot takes good morning you sound like a Bible beater. How is the Westfield Baptist Church these Days are y'all good?

Sexualizing them in a classic male fantasy.

There you go taking away their agency again. They can choose not to do it they choose to do it because they want to they know the deal.

To say this is anybody else doing anything to them is to say women aren't capable of thinking for themselves.

Is that you Matt Walsh?

True, they can do it the male patriarchal way or not do it at all.

What man hurt you you seem to be obsessed with patriarchy.

It was patriarchy that brought you male cheerleaders that's actually who started cheerleading with guys. If it wasn't for patriarchy none of this would even exist no sports no cheerleaders no society no nothing.
