Bias can be costly. I would think the reporter or some editor would be called on the carpet for poor judgment. Apparently not at the Times.

"The New York Times had first shot in 2014 at the video of Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber mocking the "stupidity of the American voter," but took a pass.

Though the Times eventually followed up on reports of the MIT economist's now-infamous remarks on the passage of the Affordable Care Act, it did so only after they had generated a national scandal.
Times' reporter Robert Pear was the "first real journalist" that tipster Rich Weinstein contacted with the newly unearthed footage, he told the Washington Examiner. . . ."

Just another day of carrying water for Obama... That's what the NY Times is all about.

If that was a video that disparaged George Bush they would have killed themselves to expose it.

Grubergate: the combined destructive might of every scandal-gate in history.

I realize you don't see any problem with what he admitted to, because lying to the American people is fine as long as it serves the liberal agenda... But believe me, there are still plenty of people who resent being lied to and played for fools by the President and the democrats on Capitol Hill.

Um, I agreed with you. Grubergate is the worst scandal in all of human history.

What was Gruber's lie to the American people?

I'm curious Pete... When a story comes along that clashes with your political beliefs like the Gruber story did, how do you manage to completely flush the story and all the facts surrounding it, down the rabbit hole the way you do? I mean, it's like you only remember certain parts of the story, and the stuff that was really damning goes "poof" ... and it's just gone.

Why don't you try re-reading the story, and not from TPM, Media Matters or some other left wing propaganda rag, so the context of what I said becomes as obvious to you as it does everyone else on this forum... That way you don't have to ask questions that make you look so out of touch with reality.

I asked you a simple question and this is what I get? This has nothing to do with my political beliefs, I think it has more to do with yours and the Right in general. What is it that Gruber lied to the American people about?

Oh, he admitted to openly lying, and how the entire push for the ACA was built on lie. It really was quite reprehensible.

Ah, splitting hairs to distract from the truth.

I suppose it would be accurate to say that Gruber didn't lie to the American people. He just admitted the Obama Administration and Democrats completely hid the facts, and misrepresented to scope and nature of the program so that people, to coin a phrase, "wouldn't know what was in it until it was passed".

So are Progressives wanting to agree to the following: Gruber didn't lie, he just hid facts, and misrepresented the program so nobody would realize what was actually being done.

I'm not so sure such a position is perceived as being very far removed from flat out lying, but if that's how the Progressive Machine is trying to couch it, I guess people will have to judge that attempt accordingly.

That tells me nothing. I seem to remember him saying that if penalty was called a tax, it wouldn't pass. That was true, since many members of Congress were/are under Grover Norquist's no new taxes pledge.

What was actually being done. Perhaps a review of the points of misrepresentation Gruber admitted to would be helpful to your understanding.

What was "actually being done" that confused you? The vagueness here is becoming rather bizarre.

LOL.

What appears bizarre is the difficulty someone would have hearing the words from Gruber's mouth.

You seem deeply wounded by something, I'm just trying to figure out what. What beliefs of yours did Gruber shatter?

Wounded? Shatter?

I think you are now establishing new levels of bizarre. Probably best to leave you to them. Have a nice day. :peace

It's almost Alinskyesque, isn't it? ;)
