Wow. I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it with my own eyes but three cheers for the liberal New York Times for fact checking Biden's speech, making exaggerated claims for himself and exaggerated claims against Trump. I was shaking my head throughout the speech. Even the liberal media could see the truth. Wait a minute, didn't Biden claim in his speech that he would always tell the truth? He couldn't even make it until the end of his speech.

How about that! Maybe you'll rethink your position that they were lying about Trump.

A guy who always lies to praise the right and attack the left is surprised about what left-lean media reports only because he solely gets his (mis)information from hard right propaganda? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.

Note: the big papers usually have running fact-check columns for politicians, ie:

And sure, you'll see the occasional Trump fact-check just as long as Republicans keep requesting dear leader's advice...

....but you're going to see more about Biden than you used to for obvious reasons. Well, if you're looking. If you only go to hard right propaganda sites, you'll no doubt be running around outraged that left-lean media never reports on a whole slew of subjects (which it, in reality, does report on regularly).

Maybe stop visiting propaganda all the time, @Moderate Right

Yep, the NY Times and the WA Post, pretty much proved that Biden's a lying dog faced pony solider.
Fact-checking Biden’s address to the nation - The Washington Post

It is true that President Donald Trump downplayed the severity of the coronavirus pandemic for months. But he was not exactly silent and did not fail to respond completely
According to estimates from the Department of Veterans Affairs, a total of 392,393 died in combat in those three wars. Combined with the 2,977 people who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, that figure would be indeed smaller than the coronavirus death toll Biden cited. It would also be lower than the 529,000 death figure tracked by The New York Times. But factoring in deaths that occurred in service but outside of combat, the toll from the three wars (more than 610,000) would be higher than the current total number of virus-related deaths Biden cited.

Wow!

And fair points as well. I didn't think the portion of the speech about vaccine supply or the vaccination effort. It's not as if nothing was happening, and more importantly things were getting off the ground at the end of the previous administrations.

It's still a lefty rag. Always has been. But I do give them credit for this. Do you actually have a comment on Biden's lies during a speech where he specifically made a point that he would always tell the truth to the American people?

Two exaggerations and two misleading statements in a 20+ minute speech? Pretender. Trump used to do that with one tweet
But Biden specifically made a speech proclaiming he would never lie to the American people and then turned right around a lied several times, more than just two.

He blatantly lied to make Trump look bad and blatantly lied to make himself look good, all in a speech where the looked Americans in the eye and told them he would always tell them the truth.

The Times is working hard to look for equivalency. Look at the first example...

"WHAT BIDEN SAID: “A year ago we were hit with a virus that was met with silence and spread unchecked, denials for days, weeks, then months.”

This is exaggerated. It is true that President Donald Trump downplayed the severity of the coronavirus pandemic for months. But he was not exactly silent and did not fail to respond completely. One year ago, on March 12, 2020, Trump delivered an address from the Oval Office acknowledging the threat and announced new travel restrictions on much of Europe."

Shall we compare this to a simple one...'Mexico will pay for the wall'

But Biden specifically made a speech proclaiming he would never lie to the American people and then turned right around a lied several times, more than just two.
Your source didn't call them lies. Trump told us he wouldn't go golfing (but somehow hasn't told any lies) so what's your point? Or maybe provide your definition of when misleading or exaggeration reaches the level of a lie? Apparently that threshold was never met by Trump so it's hard to know where you put that line.

Here's the key difference - the left will accept that Biden exaggerated something. The right won't accept that Trump outright lied 30,000 times.

Just fact-checking a few of the “fact-checks”:

Biden saying Trump was silent was generalized terminology. The fact-check was that Trump was not “exactly” silent, which implies there was silence, and that he did not fail to respond “completely.” Biden never said Trump failed to respond completely. He said that the virus “spread unchecked”, which it did up to a point, and was largely unchecked by other response throughout the Trump presidency, and Biden said there were “denials for days, weeks, then months.”, all of which is on record.

The “other deaths” used in the NYT 610,000 figure are not only non-combat, but are out-of-theatre deaths. There should be no problem with Biden using combat only deaths. In fact, 45,000 of the WWI non-combat deaths were from the H1N1 flu. An earlier pandemic to COVID-19.

Fact-check said that the Trump administration had ordered at least 800 million vaccine doses that were expected for delivery by July 31, 2021. And, that “contrary to Biden’s suggestions, both administrations deserve credit for the current state of the vaccine supply. Biden never said enough was not ordered. He said “…this country didn’t have nearly enough vaccine supply to vaccinate all or anywhere near all of the American public…”. There’s nothing “current” about July 31, 2021.

NYT makes it sound like Biden’s over 65 yrs-old vaccination figures are misleading. However, had Trump ordered enough vaccine early enough, more would have more in supply and, if there was better fed delivery to and support for state admin of the shots, more would have been vaccinated. The on-point fact is Trump got no higher than 1M shots per day. Biden as of today is up to 2.5M/day. The reason? Trump had ordered 100M Pfizer doses in July of 2020 and, according to no less than the NYT, didn’t take an offer of 100 million to 500 million additional doses at that time. Pfizer did not have the production problems in their US plant as did the EU in their Euro plant. Hilarious.

So, folks, sometimes you gotta fact-check the factcheckers.

According to the Times, he made two exaggerated claims, and two misleading claims. That falls short of lying in my book. And way short of any false statements made by Trump. I expect Biden will correct these statements in the future, where Trump always doubled down on his lies.

Don't you remember all the posts made by MR when NYT fact checked Trump speeches and pointed out lies, trusting in them and praising them for their honesty?

Me neither.

Its an unusual ability he has to admire the press when it criticizes the opposition, and then call the same press "fake" when it criticizes his hero.
Actually, he's not alone, a few other Trump supporters have chimed in with similar praise.

I didn't read most of the thread but I'll assume it's the usual Trump Panty Sniffers who followed MR's fake shit.

Hell, all that proves is that Trump is the Tom Brady of lying.
