Alright, so the time has come to replace my aging TV in anticipation of the release of the new consoles later this year and I’ve been wrestling for weeks now with which 4K really is the one I should get.

im pretty interested in the QLED but there are other models more attractively priced that I could go bigger.

Im just at a loss because I don’t want to buy something that’s not gonna hold up well as games become even more higher fidelity and performance.

any comments or anecdotes may prove vital

I had SONY TVs for years and was satisfied until one Christmas we were at the missus’ sister’s house and they had an LG LED unit. I can’t speak to gaming , but the picture is the best i have seen.

I have a bad opinion of SAMSUNG for another appliance altogether.

Small question, sorry, I'm just curious... in recent years, I have started to have young employees and those who live separately from their parents, in conversations with them, I learned that they do not buy televisions at all. At first I couldn't understand why... but later they explained their position that this is not only unfashionable and condemned by their generation, friends, but they absolutely do not need them anymore, its function has long been replaced by a phone and laptop.
What about the American youth in this matter?

They want a big screen for shows, movies and video games. I prefer the opinion of your youth but it doesn't exist above a certain GDP/cap.

Never had a problem with anything in the Sony line up.

Good luck, there are many of them and when it comes to gaming rated and 4K... they tend to get expensive and fast.

I keep hearing good things about the Samsung Q70R QLED and Sony Bravia X950G series.

Buy a 55 inch tv for around $400. You can get 4k for that. TCL, older Samsungs, Hisense are all available at that price

Any expensive one bought today, at $2000 will be old in 2 years and have TCL producing a comparable one for sale at $400.

I have a smaller Hisense 40 inch that has had no problems over 4 years, a 55 inch Samsung that is 6 years old, and a new 55 4k Samsung (cost $400 last October)

If not for my wife, I wouldn't have a TV. Can watch everything just fine on my imac. And with a 27" monitor, it occupies a hell of a lot more of my field of vision when I sit two feet from it than our (55" maybe?) TV does from the living room couch...
