I know there is a how to somewhere online, but there is no real information that comes in the box. The last two sets we have bought are wireless/Bluetooth enabled. My question is: how do I get the tv to turn on to the HDMI input, which regular network broadcasts, instead of having to wade through multiple screens to get where I want. One is a SONY and the other is something called INSIGNIA, which is like a money vacuum for AMAZON. Yeah, it’s a lazy question, but one stone, two birds kinda thing.

Hmm…

We have TVs of different brands Vizio and Samsung, but use a Spectrum (cable company’s) ‘universal’ remote to operate either of them. That remote has an “Input” button which toggles among the various possible (TV) inputs, leaving the TV set to the last one selected.

First, select the settings button on your TV remote to toggle the TV menu on your screen. Next, find the output resolution and select it. You should find a list of resolution options, including 480p, 720p, or 1080p. Use the arrows on the remote to select the option you desire and hit the select button to confirm.Feb 13, 2023

Hope this helps? Every time my satellite goes down I have to reset it to 1080p or I get a crappy pic.

Yes, I am confused at the OP's confusion.
Its silly easy.

I have that figured out. The SONY has been here for a few months. This doesn’t address my issue. I would like to be able to engage the power button and not have to make another keystroke, if possible. I just went and tried the “settings” procedure and the unit still displays all the selections instead of the old days when you could just turn the damn thing on……….rant off.

I haven’t gotten to this one yet, it just got here today and I consider myself lucky to have lasted through the start up/updating/adjusting/QR close authenticating procedure and get a channel to play.

Don’t think it ‘s not appreciated…….

I would be surprised if using the power (on/off) button changed (or reset) any of the other settings.

Progress on the SONY.

The “TV” button also acts as the “Power” button. I had been under the impression that nothing was ‘hot’ until the power was turned on.

I’ll experiment more with the INSIGNIA.

My tv remote just automatically goes to HDMI1, once I selected it preciously.

(Now if anyone can tell me how to get my tv to recognize the Roku - the tv always says 'no signal' - without me having to push a button on the Roku, that would be nice. But I suspect it's because Roku shots off after a period of no usage)

My Roku simply goes to screen saver. Tropical fish like watching an aquarium.

My Sony Bravia remote has a TV button. I turn the power on, hit the TV button and I get TV.

The other option I have is to use the PVR remote which overrides the Sony remote and takes me to the TV guide menu.

Every smart TV that we have had defaulted on startup to the last input used when it was turned off.
