New Covid variant allegedly coming back

There will still be new covid variants until long after we are all dead. Nothing new under the sun.

I had the vaccine and the booster when it first came out. It was useful back then since I had no desire to continue to hide myself away from the rest of humanity. Have had covid twice since then 12/22 and 5/24 - both were complete non events. Maybe the vax had something to do with that, maybe not. But personally I don't see the point in vaccinating myself going forward at this point in time.

Doesn't mean I think the vax is a "death jab" or other complete Internet stupidity.
 
I don't mean to say that the jab will cause literal death. I call it death jab as a figure of speech to show how much I despise it.

Fair enough but you kinda have to expect people to take you at your word when all they have to go on is your words.

If I may ask why do you despise it? Is there a scientific basis for that? Do you literally think it's dangerous? Or is it more you just don't want it shoved down your throat?
 

I took the Janssen "One-shot and Done" option back in 06/2021.

I only did that as a requirement to keep my job, otherwise I would not have done so. I have no intention of worrying about this disease, and since I am now retired, I don't have to do anything I don't want to.
 
Eh. I won't be getting the vax. I did get the tax and one booster for the first variant way back when but then I just sort of kept forgetting to get the next booster and it just never happened after that. I did get covid after that period and it was fairly bad but nothing like when I had it before vaxes were available.

Subsequent strains seem to be weaker. AFAIK.

Yep. Covid still kills, especially among the immune-compromised and the over-65 age group.

We never know whether a more easily-transmitted and/or a more lethal strain is in our future.

"Winter is coming"....many of us will be spending more time indoors.

AND don't forget the seasonal flu shot.

I despise the jabs because of how much the mainstream media (including Facebook, twitter) and the world governments were pushing them. It really made me question what was really in the vaccines. I wonder why they wanted us to take them so badly. I don't believe that a bunch of strangers in Ottawa care about our health that much.

At my next appt, my doctor will bring up whatever shots and stuff I might need and we will talk about them.

Don’t really care what a rando on the internet says.

To me, that seems like a common sense approach to the subject.

It is a virus.
Mutating into new variants is what a virus does, and will continue to do.
And I for one will get the new vaccine shot.

Don't you feel that it is wrong to endanger your own life and that of others because you're worried that getting a vaccine makes you less of a big manly man?

My wife and I are okay with annual shots since we frequently visit our increasingly elderly parents whom we adore and love and want to spend time with, and the vaccines provably reduce viral load in the event of an infection at very little cost to ourselves. Of course, we’re selfless in that way but accept that smaller people may be more selfish.

If other diminutive posters don’t care about nor feel any love for their parents or immunosuppressed loved ones… and don’t care if they die horribly because prevention of their painful death would have resulted in a minor inconvenience to said small-of-stature posters, well, that’s up to them.

This kind of response is why I typically don't respond to people like you. So smugly superior and all-knowingly judgmental.

But no, the reason why I didn't feel a need to get a Covid shot was because I had a serious hospitalization incident with the Flu when I was 5 years old. I recovered and have never caught either a cold or a version of the Flu since. I had no need of a vaccination.

Now, back to permanent tagline time you go.

So I understand what you're saying and I don't think that Washington cares about me all that much either but they don't have to to have a good reason to push the vaccines. It's in any government's best interest to have a functioning working class. I think you can simply enough explain the push for vaccines on the fact that it was better for the country as a whole - and costs the government a lot less money - to have had the pandemic done with as soon as possible.

Certainly money may have come into it. Pfizer, for one, made something like 37 billion off of covid vaccines in 2022. Could Pharma be overselling vaccines at this point in time? Certainly possible. I don't recall ever hearing of RSV vaccines before last year for example. Which is why I won't just blindly accept any vaccination that gets peddled by Pharma companies. I trust my doc and if she thinks I should get a particular vaccine I will seriously consider it.
