It is simply impossible to put the cart (reopening the economy) before the horse.
Without lockdowns, universal mask laws, social distancing, then antiviral meds, and eventually, a vaccine or other effective long term antiviral treatments, we will continue to witness repeated spikes and surges, even tidal waves of infection.

Sticking your hands on a hot burner repeatedly and expecting a different result is either ignorance or insanity.
Apparently this virus is scoring higher on a cognitive test than a good many human beings.
But the truth is, the virus does not give a damn about your conspiracy theories and stupidly hysterical videos, and your contempt for science will ultimately kill you.

The issue is, this is a pandemic.
This is not about ancient aliens, or the Illuminati, this is a pandemic with very deadly consequences, thus engaging in CT might be hazardous to one's health.
We know facts about this virus.

We also know, even if many refuse to admit it, that unless and until we handle the virus, pretty much everything else stops.

I am not interested in "trouncing" anyone.
Too many people mistake debate forums as a place to score points or pick winners and losers.

We already have an entire administration that is engaging in CT wrt to this virus....that is more than enough already.

Last I heard, back in April or March, it was only 0.5%

When did it get worse?

And if we're all infected and infectious, how do we get to where we're allowed abroad again?
That's a serious part of international trade, travelling internationally.
Countries aren't taking us off their no travel lists.

They are not used for illumination anymore, just for support of an argument. I did see a good 'stat' today on MSNBC of all places, it was on the lobby television when I was checking into Microsoft. They had the updated infection numbers, the updated death numbers, the updated projections, but in the 'Recovered' slot it just said Not Reported. Has everyone died who has gotten it? Surely that number exists somewhere.
