Nevada Judge Calls ACORN 'Reprehensible,' Slaps Group With Maximum Fine for Voter Fraud

A Nevada judge on Wednesday gave ACORN, the defunct grass-roots community organization, the maximum fine for its illegal voter-registration scheme in that state.
District Court Judge Donald Mosley was blunt and unsparing in his criticism of the discredited activist group. Citing the long history of voter registration fraud allegations that engulfed ACORN across the country, he slapped the group with a $5,000 fine for violating Nevada election law during the 2008 presidential election.
Mosley, reading the pre-sentence report, listed a series of voter registration fraud allegations against ACORN workers. He said that if the claims have been true, then "It is making a mockery of our election process. If I had an individual in this courtroom...who was responsible for this kind of thing, I would put that person in prison for 10 years, hard time, and not think twice about it," he said. "To me this is reprehensible. This is the kind of thing you see in some banana republic, Uruguay or someplace, not in the United States."
It's about time someone in authority publicly calls these scumbags out for what they are.

Where voter ID laws have been passed there is far less of an ability for voter fraud. This puts Democrats at a disadvantage. It is pretty darned hard to win elections based on the Democrats record if they cannot count on the dead and illegal alien vote.Mark my words. In the upcoming election, everywhere voter ID laws were passed there will be LEGIONS of Republicans going through voter roles looking for ways to disenfranchise legal voters on technicalities. They do it in every close race in the country.
To my knowledge, no one here has presented any evidence of convictions for ACTUAL fraudulent voting of any significance.

Still, conservatives and Republicans need to get out the greatest possible number of legitimate voters. When we do we win.

No wonder groups like ACORN then and now have NO PROBLEM violating election laws and undermining our election process. $5K is the MAX fine? What a ****ing JOKE!!!
Look at every close race. The fingerprints are there. Evaluate the counties where more democrats vote than there are residents in the county. The evidence is anecdotal.Keep hearing about all these illegal alien and dead people voting. I must have missed the proof of this occurring.
Could you direct me to your evidence?
One is significant.

As far as this story goes, Acorn was accused (and charged) for things like this year in and year out. It made no difference. They would get caught and then do it again in the next election.
Its a technicality. Paying bonuses for 21 registrations violates NV law. It doesn't violate federal law, and isn't illegal in many states.

Perhaps if it was $5k per false registration... or did I miss that part?
Four people is "significant"? Did the election in question turn on those four votes?
I'm not saying voter fraud doesn't happen. I'm just saying that its actually pretty rare. I would venture to say what fraud there is on both sides probably cancels out. Then we're back to disenfranchising "boxing" activities.
It is an indicator. Small scale voter fraud is not likely to be caught. Large scale voter fraud means there are more people who might be caught. Did you notice in the story that three out of four were democrats? The fourth was not specified.Four people is "significant"? Did the election in question turn on those four votes?
Still, most stories of voter fraud are anecdotal. I am sure if someone was willing to do the research one might find irrefutable facts. I won't do the research. But I will expect widespread democrat voter fraud. The way to counter it is to turn out such large numbers of legitimate republican voters that the democrats are unable to steal the election. If more dems voted than there are residents, that's easily provable and NOT anecdotal.
Large numbers of formal complaints by those denied the right to vote by "boxing" activities are made in poor Dem districts every election. Legal voters denied the right to vote by various challenges to their right to do so.

The law is the law - he can't violate that no matter how much he might have wanted to - I'm sure he would have if he could have.
You guys do realize that ACORN is no longer around right?
Fox news with a lying/misleading headline? Say it ain't so...:lol:What if...? said:You do realize that this case was about compensation for voter registration personnel, right?
Eh...what's a little two letter word to the bias detector? What if...? said:Very important point: the sentence before your bolding begins with "if" and so does the second sentence in the bolded part. The case did not involve any actual fraud, just a bonus system for getting 21 registrations in a day.
Nowhere in your article is ACORN mentioned.1Perry said:One is significant.
That's the point, yes there have been many allegations from the whiny right, where are the convictions?1Perry said:As far as this story goes, Acorn was accused (and charged) for things like this year in and year out. If you investigate voter fraud with any depth at all, you will find 'in person' voter fraud rare, almost indeterminable.
