We'll have to wait and see how this plays out. Will Bibbi's government fall?

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's governing coalition faces significant instability after a key ultra-Orthodox party announced its withdrawal early on Tuesday. The move directly threatens to undermine the Israeli leader's authority at a critical juncture in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

United Torah Judaism's two factions confirmed their exit from the government, citing deep disagreements over a proposed bill. This legislation aims to enshrine widespread military draft exemptions into law for their constituents, whose members primarily dedicate themselves to religious study rather than military service.

This is the sort of thing that happens in democracies which have Proportional Representation voting systems.

Wheels can come off at any moment

A horrible system but I'm not familiar with anything better.
Anyway good riddance if it does fall. These ultra-orthodox parties have no room in the coalition governing the nation that they refuse to defend.

Breaking the Likud - Ultra Orthodox alliance would be a great thing for future peace. In fact, peace might not be possible without Likud thus crippled.

That alliance is a large part if not the majority part of why Likud so enthusiastically helps the settlers abuse the Palestinians; the Orthos are an ever-growing power base, thanks to the fact that all their exemptions and benefits allow the dudes to sit around 'studying Torah' and making babies...future Likud voters

I find it so strange that the ones who are the most warmongering, they rhemselves deny fighting becuse of relifigous reasons. The other shall clear the settleground for them.

In my dreamworld we go back to the middle ages - no one shall order a war if he not leads in the first row.

Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be R-heads
Callin' for fatwas and jihads and such,
Let 'em ride camels, but not pray too much

Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be Furheads
Thumpin' their Torahs, too holy to work
They stir up the Arabs, then combat they shirk

Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be Fatheads
Thumpin' their Bibles and spewin' out swill
when the Towers came down, they said it's God's will

Mamas don't let your babies grow up True Believers
R-heads or Furheads or Fatheads or worse
They make their religion not blessing but curse!

A breakup of Likud's coalition maybe the last best chance for secular and moderate Israelis to seize control of their government. First order of business: constitutional amendment to limit the electoral franchise to current and former IDF members and their spouses. If you are not willing to defend the country, you should have no voice in running it.
