i don't care what aarp says, and i have no interest in endless, mindless back and forth
THERE ARE HALF A T CUTS TO M AND M IN THIS BILL
ben nelson?
LOL!
you quote for me not-applicable nelson?
on the topic of ABORTION?
LOL!
where the heck did that come from?
ben nelson? on abortion?
wow
fact is, A QUARTER T DOC FIX THAT IS OFF BUDGET, ACCOUNTED AGAINST THE GENERAL FUND, IE, THE DEFICIT, PASSED THE HOUSE
there's a story on it YESTERDAY on one of THIS FORUM's pages
please...
you said the exact opposite two days ago about this DOUBLE COUNTING of a QUARTER T, you said then it was "really a small thing in the overall scheme of things"
please learn more about what's actually in THIS BILL before you kneejerk another mindless comeback
and please don't lump all your opponents together as a bunch of glenn becks
that would be bigoted
and the height of presumption
your arguments are really more with the post, the hill, the globe and ap than with me
You should link that one so we can discuss it
No I didn't. what we discussed a few days ago was in a different context
your complaint (double counting) isn't a new one either, or on topic. Both republicans and democrats have done what you claim and it is really a small thing in the overall scheme of things.
LOL!
yeah, you did, dummy:
I have done my homework, and it has been the lying that has tarred the effort (and that some rightly believe it doesn't go far enough). You know that, which is why you avoid.
A small thing in context, but I did not say it wasn't a real concern. It's an issue, but not the most important one.
On this AARP matters. They are a watch dog on this.
You have got to be kidding me, AARP is one of the most cash flush lobbying groups in the U.S.
Not to mention that they also derive income from many health related avenues.
So they have a definite financial stake in this.
To call them a watch dog is just laughable.
What normally happens when someone is found to be double counting the books? They get arrested for fraud. Fraud is not a small thing.
They do seek to help senior citizens. If they stop doing that, they will cease to be as an organization. So, yes, they are watch dog in that sense.
So they are no different than any other lobby group, as they only look out for what benefits them most.
Yes. Never suggested otherwise. But if the complaint is it will hurt seniors, and the group lobbying for them disputes this, then I think it is cause to pause and look at it.
Depending on your age of course, looking to AARP for policy advice can have negative consequences on your financial future.
Because of them, I will most likely have to pay more for less benefits than current retires will ever have to.
It's not double counting in that sense. And I do apologize for having to leave this discussion early the other night, leaving me only to make a small comment and rush off.
But, it is the same type of tricks all our leaders have used. This in no way excuses it, nor am I trying to excuse it, but in the larger picture, this is less problem than the fact that it really doesn't lower costs yet the way most of us would want. So, I consider cost a legitimate issue, but the double counting aspect, as I understand it being presented here by Prof is not as important.
Defrauding the whole of America is NOT a small thing. Even relatively speaking it is not a small thing. Especially when we're talking about billions of dollars.
No one's been defrauded, at least no more than usual. If this angers you, you should have spent most your life angry.

Ah yes, the 'ol "Sit down, and take it" line that is liberal denial at its best. This is the point where instead of holding true to what ever principles you have espoused in the past concerning corruption flies out the window in favor of "Well, the other guy does it too!"
GAWD Joe, doesn't this type of disingenuousness ever get old for you?
j-mac
I wonder if you would have dismissed it just as easily if republicans had been the ones caught doing it. Somehow I doubt it.
1. the important problem is the cost
2. double counting a quarter T is not an important "aspect"
3. LOL!
4. as incoherent as the president
