LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Veteran rocker Neil Young has recorded a protest album featuring an anti-Iraq war track with "a holy vow to never kill again" and a song titled "Let's Impeach the President," the singer said on Monday.

The 10-track set, called "Living with War," was recorded this month by a "power trio" -- electric guitar, bass and drums -- plus trumpet and a 100-member choir, the 60-year-old Canadian-born musician announced on his Web site. (Watch how many angry artists are putting their melody where their mouth is -- 4:09)

Young's longtime manager, Elliot Roberts, told Reuters the album, which has been the subject of Internet buzz for several days, will be played for executives at his label, Warner Music Group's Reprise Records, on Tuesday.

Reprise spokesman Bill Bentley said Young's latest effort, which he spent about three days recording, came as a surprise. "We didn't know he was making a record," Bentley said.

Young is the latest in a string of recording stars to take musical aim at U.S. President George W. Bush and his conduct of the war in the Iraq. Others have included Steve Earle, Willie Nelson and the Rolling Stones...

"Let's" being the contraction word for "let us" I find it ironic it is coming from Neil Young. He is a Canadian. He is not one of "us."

He should shut his piehole in my opinion and let "us" take care of our own problems. He has enough to complain about in Canada.

The Stones can STFU too as far as I'm concerned.

Don't get me wrong. I have been a long time fan of Mr. Young's.

I just think family issues should be kept amongst the family. He is not family.

Neither is the Rolling Stones, but I have also been a long time fan of their's too.

So...Keep on rockin' in the free world, for sure, Mr. Young. Just excuse me when I tell you to put a cork in it when you start sticking your nose where it don't belong.

Homegrown...it's a good thing. Plant that bell and let it ring.

Actually, being that Bush is nearly at Nixon level approval ratings, he pretty much has almost the whole country, excluding the radical right, disenchanted with him. So sounds like he is doing some things kind of wrong.

Just the same, I cant stand Neil Young. I am sure this album will sell about as well any other one he has released in the last 20 years. So, he is probably looking at selling a couple of dozen Cd's or so.

An old out of touch hippie that used to be famous. He's now trying to find a career again and he's off to the hippy races if he can remember which way it is.

I think when you're a respected R & R star of the caliber of Neil Young that your words do mean alot. His criticism of Bush certainly carries more weight then the praise from any country artist that has supported Bush.

Neil Young will be remembered long after any musical artist, you'd care to name, that supports Bush.

Neil Young has never sold out, and I believe he has genuine love for America, but he dislikes the direction the nation has taken, as do many of us.

Why should his words be held in contempt, or worth less then any of us who post in these forums? He has probably traveled more extensively and met a broader range of individuals then many of us can say, and travel, does broaden the mind. His career spans almost 4 decades now...few musicians have been as influential.

Sure, he was born and raised in Canada, but has not lived here in decades.

So because he's not a "natural," he's not really considered a true American?

BTW, they forgot the mention Green Day in the article.
 
Not that I have ever heard of him or even care what he thinks, he is certainly entitled to whatever opinion he has. Just as anyone who wishes to hold his words in contempt has the same right.
 

LMAO... Neil hasn't been respected, influental or a RR star in 25 years. He's a doddling old fool that made music when most people were to stoned to see straight. And his words will fall the same place they have the last 25 years, noplace. I think your giving him a lot more credit then he deserves. But good for neil for trying a comeback, even if it is on the countries back....

Harvest was a pretty good album. This one probably won't be as good but you know if I can tolerate the old fool singing about, "A man needs a maid" I'm sure I can handle some anti-Bush I hate war whining.
