I didn’t say it was acceptable. Thievery happens in business and government and the remedy is not to shutdown operations but to put controls in place to mitigate thievery and get law enforcement involved. That’s why the Secret Service was involved.

But you get a choice to give your money to an insurance company - not so with government. If a company is reckless with money in the form of fraud - they won't be in business very long.
 
The answer sure isn't to make the system being defrauded bigger so as to be more susceptible to fraud.

The real definition of insanity is to give the government more and more and more to do - then expect them to get it right .... this time.

I was referring to false and fraudulent claims. Typically insurance companies are large enough to absorb the billions in phony claims.

Why is this biden's fault? Anyway, speaking of socialism, I forget what state it is where republicans now want to pay folks who lost a job due to not being vaccinated and then terminated. In others words paying them for not being vaccinated and sitting home. How do you feel about that idea?

I tend to ignore stories like this that have the caveat of "could have" or "potential." The media always reports the absolute upper bound.
 
But still the consumer has the choice to dump a company that would accept such loss only to make it up on their backs - quite delusional to say the company absorbs the losses. Nope, they pass them on to the consumer - the consumer who gets a choice if they want to do business with that company or not. You don't get that choice with government.

Well, yeah, it is. They sure aren't reporting the number of asymptomatic and mild Covid cases. Hell of a lot more of those than there are Covid deaths. Then they aren't emphasizing the underlying health conditions of those with higher Covid morbidity and mortality.
 
That is why we need to upgrade our infrastructure. So it will be more efficient.

Yep, but that is because they lacked the resources to properly vet emergency (crisis?) payment requests. That can only be fixed by giving them more money to hire, train and keep (for life) more government employees to ensure that this happens (a bit?) less often.
