Nba 2017

Playing on Christmas and they day after? That's tough.

The Cavs are an average team at best without LeBron. He makes that much of a difference.

OK, I'm convinced.

Kyrie was out tonight. Lebron, however, was not. Cav's blow out the Hornets, a much better team than Detroit. Kyrie is not yet even close to being a superstar. Lebron clearly is.

Not only does James rack up 32 points, 9 dimes and 6 boards, but his style also lets K Love score 28 and allows some unknown players shine. McRae (McWho?) with 20, rookie Felder with 13, and a solid performance from the rest of the cast like Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye and Tristan Thompson. That certainly did not happen when LBJ was out and Kyrie was the man.

The Trade: Kyle Korver for a future first and Dunleavy Jr.

On the surface it looks misleadingly benign: old white guy with injury issues for slightly younger white guy who is healthy. But, dig deeper and you go, "Holy ****! This little guy can shoot."

Instant trade analysis: How does Kyle Korver fit with the Cleveland Cavaliers? - Fear The Sword

Korver doesn't miss much. In fact, he is a more efficient shooter than Curry.

This might be the floor-spreading equalizer the Cav's need to outscore the Durant Dubs. Kyrie, LBJ, K Love are licking their chops today, I am sure. So am I.

I love how this kid moves without the ball to get open threes. Also of note is the obvious respect his teammates have for his shot, as we can see them constantly looking to feed him the ball behind the arc.

Like I said, Holy ****!!

I cannot believe this trade is going to happen. :) Granted, Korver has to have lost a step, and he most certainly is not an all star at 35, plus his D will probably be a huge liability, but damn. I cannot image how effective a deadly accurate shooter will be with James and Irving dishing from the paint after drawing in any and all perimeter defenders. I can see it though. Splash!

Here, this guy lays it out pretty nicely.

The Hawks are trying to trade Paul Milsap and the Raptors have been linked to him.

Although I think that would be an upgrade, I think a more economically option would be Kenneth Faried. I think the Raptors could get him for just expiring contracts - Patterson and Sullinger.

Milsap would cost Ross, Poehlti and a first round pick most likely. for a player that could opt out at the end of the year.

I find it interesting that the Hawks have decided to give up on chasing down the Cavs during the waning stages of LeBron's prime. Judging by the trade, they are looking ahead to 2019, when LBJ hits 35. I see them slowly but surely filling their roster with young talent which will gel around 2020. That almost makes sense for a team that lost to Cleveland in the playoffs for three straight years.

Toronto is in a similar boat. Do we put it all on the table now and try to catch these guys or do we wait? T has to decide if they want to keep Lawry and compete or dish him off and wait it out.

Korver is wearing the Wine and Gold right now in Utah. He should be seeing some minutes for the Cavs in tonight's game. Let's see what the new guy can do. :)

Korver was cold last night. He could not shoot for ****. And, worse, he had no idea where to go while the Cavs ran their plays. He stood around a lot and his defender was on him like glue. On the upside, his D was not half bad and he pulled down a few rebounds.

Obviously, he needs to find his rhythm. A few practices and a couple games with the boys should fix all that.

Now this is the Kyle Korver we hoped to see.

We lost power last night, about 15 minutes before the Cavs Warriors game. I think someone up there loves me.

Cavs lost by 35.

IMO, in the NBA any game played during a month with an R in it is just exhibition. By the end of August, barring serious injury to a superstar, you could just pencil in who will be playing for a title in June. OK, maybe May will deliver a few surprises. But, I would not bet on it.

Anyway, even the writers know that regular season NBA is a waste of time. Unlike any other sport, we can pretty much skip the second half of the regular season altogether.

TrueHoop Presents: How the NBA standings never change after Jan. 20

Kevin Love goes off for 39 on Monday against the Wizards--who I still think of as the Bullets---and, yesterday Kyle Korver scores 29 to lead the Cavs over the Pacers.

The white guys are taking back the NBA. Lol...Trump making America Great Again.

East: Cavs, Celts, Wizards and Raptors are within 5 games. Hawks and Pacers are not far behind. Any of those teams, except maybe the Hawks, can beat the Cavs in a playoff series if Lebron has a few off games and Irving or Love fail to bring their best.

The Celts and Wiz have made a nice run over the past month or so. Raptors are falling back rapidly. Hornets who were in the hunt have fallen out of playoff contention, while the Pistons have slid into it. Heat have won 13 straight. So, don't count them out. Bucks have lost more than just games as Parker went down with his second torn ACL in three years. They are toast, IMO.

West: No contest. Warriors up 4 on the Spurs, but no way SA catches GS. Rockets, Jazz and Clips---who cares?--they are just playing out the string here. There is almost no chance any of those three teams go far in the playoffs, except maybe to make it far enough to be eliminated by the Warriors or Spurs.

So how about Kyrie Irving coming out as a flat earther

As long as he does not come out as a flat baller, I could not care less. I don't look to Kyrie for much except 25 points and 10 assists per game, with maybe a solid effort at D to go with it. :)

He's a great free throw shooter too. And, that is very valuable right now.

Kyrie can score but his defense is not good and he definitely is not going to average 10 assists
