navarro Found Guilty Of Contempt Of Congress

"Defense lawyer Stanley Woodward was left to argue that Navarro's failure to comply may have been an accident or a mistake."

I am skeptical that Navarro is offering this reason to the public.

All he had to do was comply with the subpoena. He's getting what he should. It's good to see the lawlessness held accountable.

Can someone explain why Peter Navarro thought he did not have to comply with the subpoena?

That's great news, actually. FAFO. Hope he gets the full year.

he insists tRump told him not to show up
not to testify
and since tRump was previously president, he assumed tRump would acknowledge why navarro would have that understanding
but tRump - surprise - left navarro hanging, refusing to notify the court that what navarro was expressing is consistent with tRump's directive while serving as president
in short, tRump abandoned navarro, who (stupidly) defied the J6 committee subpoena in the belief that the commander-in-chief had given him explicit instructions not to disclose the counsel navarro had shared with the then-president

And why does the court see fit to wait four ****ing months to sentence him? The max he can get is a year in prison.
they did the same thing for steve bannon upon conviction for the same violation
in anticipation of an appeal

Steve Bannon sentenced to 4 months in prison for defying Jan. 6 committee subpoena, but remains free, pending appeal

His flag pin appears to have a penny embedded in it. Does anyone know what that means? I have a guess, but I figured that someone might know for sure.

She must have chipped Navarro with a GPS transponder……

How much can lawyers charge for a two day affair?

If he was that worried, he could have plead the 5th. Now look at all his stupid trouble.

Depends on how much they enjoyed it...

I think he was trying to go with the lines of having executive privilege or something.
These people seem to think invoking executive privilege to evade legal obligation is like waving garlic in front of a vampire.

Did Navarro go broke and lose his home? Does he think prison is some sort of public housing?

Oh wait, the prison term is not that long and he wants to be some sort of hero to some citizens. OK Pete.....keep your pants up in there buddy.

Another of Trump’s swamp dwellers bites the dust. “Only the best people” LOL…
