Jailed Russian opposition politician Aleksei Navalny has tested negative for the coronavirus as concerns over his health mount after he was moved to a prison sick ward with a severe cough and temperature. "The first test showed a negative result. However, for some reason, they took a second analysis from him. We do not know that result yet," Navalny’s lawyer, Olga Mikhailova, said on April 7. With Navalny only months removed from a poison attack that forced doctors into putting him in a medically induced coma for weeks, his associates, including Anastasia Vasilyeva, his personal doctor and the head of the Alliance of Doctors trade union, attempted to see the Kremlin critic on April 6, only to be rebuffed by prison officials. Police later detained Vasilyeva and at least nine other supporters gathered outside the prison. The leader of Navalny's team in the city of Perm, Sergei Ukhov, told RFE/RL on April 7 that the head of the Alliance of Doctors' branch in the Perm Oblast, Artyom Boriskin, and his press secretary, Valeria Merkulova, who were detained along with Vasilyeva and others, remain in custody on a charge of violating the law regulating gatherings near penitentiaries. Ukhov added that Boriskin and Merkulova will remain in custody until a court decides on their pretrial restrictions.

Russian authorities have arrested and charged Navalny's personal doctor, Anastasia Vasilyeva, and nine other doctors and associates for approaching the penal colony holding Mr. Navalny.

"Justice" in Vladimir Putin's Russia.

The EU should tighten sanctions against Russia - "in the event of an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine or the deterioration of Navalny's health," said MEP Manfred Weber.
Russia should impose sanctions against Manfred Weber - in the event of an escalation in Syria or the deterioration of Assange's health.

Alexey Navalny is terribly bullied in the colony. His prison life is unbearable. He revealed a whole bunch of diseases, among which, perhaps, only gynecological ones are absent...
