And what is NATO going to do? Scold Putin? Threaten more sanctions?
If Russia is violating NATO airspace, shoot the aircraft down. Russia will threaten nuclear war but no one will buy his bluff and he will soon enough stop having Russian aircraft intruding on NATO airspace.

Completely reckless and unacceptable. What is the dictator Putin playing at?

Estonia should learn from Turkiye's response when they shot down an intruding Russian jet. It didn't happen again after that.

Also interesting that Erdogan and Putin were and still are friends but yet Erdogan still has his airforce shoot down the SU-24.

Hmm. Seeing as there’s a rather large difference between attacking a lone ground attack aircraft and multiple fighter planes—-

oh, and Turkey did so in an attempt to shield Turkish fascist foreign fighters and Al Qaeda volunteers from being struck by the Russians-

the argument doesn’t hold up in the slightest.

SAMS don't actually care much. Mig-31s aren't stealth aircraft.
People keep talking what Turkey did, which was send up fighters to try and save the Grey Wolves and Al Qaeda guys they were protecting.

Which didn’t work, as the Russians just bombed the shit out of them the next couple days anyway.

People are dumb.

You just use SAMs and call it a day. Less risk, less expense, and less danger to your own pilots.

Also, greater chance of the enemy pilot surviving, which gets you intel and embarrasses your enemy.

Estonia doesn’t have any sort of significant air defense network, though. They’ve got some Mistrals and a few old third hand anti aircraft guns, and that’s really about it.

The point is violating air space, there is no difference.
Yes, there is. It is significantly harder to try and shoot down fighter jets than ground attack aircraft in a dogfight, and multiple aircraft who can help each other out are exponentially harder to fight then a single aircraft on its own.

Mistrals can get the job done, assuming they have adequate coverage. It's not like there's any terrain to duck behind.

Kind of a big assumption given the window to shoot is so small and the crews have almost certainly never engaged aircraft for real before

Yeah, they might have to settle for making the Mig pilots mess in their G suits.

And they need to start buying missiles from Norway.

Norway already gave away their entire stockpile of Mistrals.

You keep weirdly focusing on some tactical detail about defending the airspace, when the point remains, Putin is deliberately violating NATO members airspace recently.

No one cares about the tactical details, we are discussing Putin violations of sovereign territory. You are always so desperate to divert from the point.
