Trump supporters are more realistic than this site gives them credit for. It's fun to insult Trump supporters here. Not so in real life face to face. I think that's important to remember. There are few Trump supporters, in my opinion, who are not highly critical of him and his lack of sophistication.

Unfortunately, again in my opinion, the businessman we elected seems to have cut his management teeth on bullying. His tough exterior served him well in business because he held all the cards. He was (and will continue to be) in absolute charge of those he chooses to surround himself with. That doesn't work well in the political arena. But just like abusers everywhere, when what they're doing stops working? They double down. That's what we're seeing.

You can't successfully bully unless you are in control of those you bully. And he is not.

Is he guilty of an impeachable offense? I seriously doubt it. Will he be successful if he keeps this same style of people management? I don't think so. But I think he'll change. He really has little choice. It may be too late though...

Wouldnt it be wonderful if we could have sensible discourse on this subject? Not just WONDERFUL, but darned near impossible. ;)

Hmmm...I've yet to see you post anything even remotely critical of Trump.
Closest thing to it is this thread. Good start. Gives me hope.

So, you admit he's a bully. Care to add anything else?

I seriously don't think his ego will allow him to change and that's the problem.

And do you know how many times I've heard the bolded from victims of spousal abuse? Too many. They usually end up leaving the person or they get horrible injured or dead. That's not to say trump is a wife beater or anything but while his actions are not physical they are a pattern of abuse verbally if not straight out bullying.

Trump isn't going to change. He's been this way too long and had too long a pattern.

How about this? Maggie is attempting to present a thread where reasonable discussion can happen. She is presenting some of the problems with having a businessman with a businessman mentality as President, a very reasonable issue, considering the two jobs are very different and require different skill sets. In order to actually have a reasonable discussion, how about no comments disparaging Maggie and no one-liner attacks on Trump? How about everyone actually trying to discuss this? This is not a Mod warning. Just an observation and a suggestion.

Where there's life, there's always hope. ;) I think it's hard to say he ISN'T a bully, frankly. And that he ISN'T doubling down. Problem is? Everyone else is doing the same thing... I'll probably add things if this thread gets legs.

First Maggie - I hope all is going well with you in real life.

Second, glad see you are being more objective about Trump with this post.

Third, Trump will not change. He is too old and has been set in his ways for many decades now and it has worked for him. No way is he changing.

As to impeachment - obstruction of justice and entering into a conspiracy to obstruct justice are both crimes that one can be impeached for. So the possibility is very much on the table. It will be a question of numbers and politics as to if it is exercised.

How often do 71 year old, multi-millionaire, males "change" ????

If this was an after school special or Christmas Halmark movie.......... I imagine it would involve ghosts or a poor but adorable kid from the projects showing him the true meaning of life.

The man is 71 years old, are we really going to wait for him to learn to do the Job of being President?

Are we really going to sit back and ignore and pretend EVERYTHING Donald Trump has said and has done before last November doesn't count?

Are we really going to sit back and ignore and pretend that EVERY FACT CHECKABLE LIE Donald Trump tell EACH & EVERY DAY doesn't count toward his Character?

Are we really going to just sit back and Close our Eyes, Cover our Ears and Say Nothing about what we SEE and HEAR?

Are we really going to try to divert EVERY SINGLE thing that Donald Trump does and say it's The Democrats or Obama or Hillary Fault?

Really?

Come-On ... Really?

... better ....

First, I see Haymarket is on this thread. Don't choke on your coffee, my friend!

PRAXAS, since I used the analogy, I like that you carried it forward. And I agree with you on that. Your last line? I still hold hope that you may be wrong. One thing I DO give Trump credit for is his smarts.

CAPTAIN, can I like your post more than once?

As always, your post is spot on.

I think General Kelly might be a light in the darkness for Trump.

Trump seems to have a great deal of respect for and high degree of regard for the military and for military leaders with string ideas on leadership and order.

Kelly seems to be one of these.

Trump seems to be a pretty talented salesman while being a pretty reactionary leader. Kelly is an iron hand who will devour chaos and leave order in its place.

Trump's style lays bare all of the pretense of Washington. He's not the only one who looks bad in this little soap opera. They all do.

Everyone looking bad is well displayed in the ongoing healthcare debate.

Proposals coming to light in the last week include Graham's block grants to the states, Cruz's idea of a set of parallel plans as options and the combination of HSA's with catastrophic coverage have merit. There was talk in the past of government funded healthcare accounts for citizens. There was talk of Free Clinics. Many ideas that seem to have been frozen out in the past and may have an avenue to advance in the rubble of the previous efforts.

This is how our system is designed to work. Trump keeps pushing and the legislators need to produce. The problem for the legislators is that they hate to get pushed and are acting like petulant children who want to play instead of work.

They have been acting this way for decades. They love the power and the prestige, but hate the actual work.

I love listening to McCain boast about the nobility of the Senate and its equality to the Executive and then just vote no again and again.

He doesn't like Trump. Trump is at least putting forth effort to do something. McCain is just stonewalling. The perfect US Senator. For the love of God, when will they do something?

I agree. Donald Trump does act like a bully. I think one of his biggest difficulties is working with other people. It was easier for him before, when he was simply the head of his own company, because whatever he said went. But now, being the POTUS, he has to work with people, and make compromises. And he hasn't done a very good job of that, IMO.

I do very much doubt he'll ever change, though. This is just who he is.

"High crimes and misdemeanors" is intentionally vague and not really based in law.

A President can be impeached for anything criminal or not. It depends only on what the Congress desires.

Actually, this is something that I believe is important and accurate. I believe that General Kelly, if really allowed to manage things, will finally bring order to the chaos that Trump has created inside the White House and his staff. He seems like a level headed, no nonsense take charge person, something this administration sorely needs. I am hoping that he helps.
