My Fantasy Thread

That was a weirdly run race. With that said, I tend to look for horses with a little longer odds in the Derby. You need a lot of luck with a 20 horse field, especially with relatively inexperienced 3 year olds in May. The best horse doesn't always win, so if I'm taking my chances, I want a better payout.
Absolutely, beating the favorite is something I normally do regardless. Most of my bets are win bets so it's necessary to make a decent return. Will use favorites in exactas, pick 3's and 4's.

You do get decent odds on the favorite in the Derby because of the large field and total handle. We'll make several win bets and a few exacta's on the Derby. Might use Asmussen's Tiztastic in a few bets. Will most likely play the undercard as well.

I'm going with the horse that came in 2nd in that race, Baeza. Me & my brother were always at Aqueduct or Belmont in the 60's
and Braulio Baeza & Manuel Ycaza were the 2 premier jockeys of that era. Baeza was the jockey who rode Dr Fager to victory after victory
in the mid to late 60's.
Secratariats triple crown exploits probably has to rank him as the #! thoroughbred but
Dr. Fager IMO was so close IMO he ranks #1A.

Dr. Fager had the finest year ever for a racehotse in 1968, earning Champion
Sprinter, Turf, Handicap and Horse of the Year. His mile record of
1:32 1/5 carrying 134 lbs. has not been surpassed in 51 years. In the words of Braulio Baeza,
“Dr. Fager could punch a hole in the wind.”

Ugh, sloppy track for Derby Day. Hopefully all horses make it through the day without injury. Track is playing pretty fair with Macho Music won out front and several rallying from behind. Would say want to be towards the outside coming for home.

Going to stick with my picks eventhough it's based on drier conditions. Cashed already on 4 small win bets on the undercard so not going to be a disaster if we fail to cash in the Derby.

Wife likes Journalism, Sandman, and Render Judgement.

Going BIG with Journalism and Sovereignty. With a small bet on Tiztastic.

Brother in Law is all in on Asmussen's Clever Again. His connections are confident. Journalism price isn't worth betting to win. Will play some exactas.

Unbelievable win by Journalism!
