Musk to federal employees: tell us what you did last week or you're fired

Another way to look at it:

They are throwing the baby out along with the bath water.

What Musk is doing i refer to as taking a hatchet to entire departments, many of those departments are in place to serve the public. Goverment is in place to serve the people, where as corporations are in place to make money, thus the difference.

I prefer surgical incisions over culling entire agencies.

This is the way I, with my cynical mindset from exposure to 40+ years of having to, professionally, assess motive in what has a high potential for criminality.

Musk is a lot of things but stupid isn’t one of them. I do not believe he thinks the best way to improve productivity within an active, working, potentially essential, organization is to throw a monkey wrench into its gearbox and bring the whole thing to a grinding halt.

So if the stated purpose is to effectually take this organization into a more efficient, practical , functionality then he knows what he’s doing isn’t the best way to go about that. So what is his actual goal? What is his actual motivation.

He is Elon Musk. A man with external interests benefitted by the cessation of government involvement blocking his momentum in furthering the goals of those external interests. The evaporation of EPA and other regulation. The lowering of ability of government to inspect and investigate his business activities. Yet still have access to the federal government trough that provides $$$ that supplement his other capital investment strategy.

I believe Musk is doing what he’s doing not in the interest of “D.O.G.E.” but “M.M.L.E” (make Musk’s life easier). He’s serving his own interests. Not the public’s.

I think he’s potentially breaking the governments regulatory capability. I think he’s illegally gathering tons of government data to feed his A.I. advancement. I think he’s using position to improve his placement at the corporatist gov’t teat in front of his business rivals.

I do not think Musk is, particularly, a man of high ethics and I do not believe his behavior is particularly ethically motivated in this. I think Musk is working toward the advancement of Musk.

That is basically the message. The real version is that Musk wants to know what federal employees did last week, and refusal to comply signals your resignation.

The email is now out:

Currently the word is out that department heads are telling their employees to not respond until they get more direction.

Yes, stop pretending Musk isn't in control.

This is rich coming from the Muskrat. He tweets on average 50 times a day.

If you were a boss and an employee couldn't tell you 5 things they did last week to earn they paycheck, wouldn't you fire them?

Please tell me where this is common practice, Josie. You teach, right? When was the last time your principal or department head sent you an email demanding you respond with 5 things you did last week and if you didn't respond or provide a sufficient response you'd be fired?

Didn't say it was common practice. We're evaluated by admin coming into our classroom at scheduled and unscheduled times. Then we do have to sit down and discuss what we did right, what we need more help with, any suggestions, questions, etc. But if my admin did email me to ask what I've done, I could give them 5 things easily. Anyone who is doing their job should be able to.

If your admin demanded you give 5 things and was given 5 things but fired you because they didn't like the answers I have no doubt you would be taking it to your union rep.
