Axismaster said:I think the reason he wouldn't join the military today is because he actually wants to protect his country, not fight for the neo-cons special interests.
Navy Pride said:Congratulations you have the left wing spin down pat my friend:spin:
Axismaster said:Left wing spin? I am more of a true conservative than you are, because unlike you and your neo-con cronies, I am actually for smaller government across the board. Extensive military actions and subsidized corporations are not smaller government. Bush is the biggest F-ing socialist in American history!

You are actually right except i do support the war, when it comes to true conservative, they dont like Bush. I'm a conservative and I do not like him. He is just a better choice than Kerry would have been. But a true conservative would not do all this wire tap bull.
FinnMacCool said:I can't believe people actually voted for Bush cause they thought he'd be "better". How could anybody be any worse? What kind of a leader starts wars with countries for profit? What could possibly be worse? Who claims to defend freedom yet threatens it at home with things like the Patriot ACt and this whole wiretapping bullshit? Who appoints people based on busness relations rather then because he actually feels they can do the job? Who could possibly be any worse?

Navy Pride said:President Bush is a social conservative and a fiscal moderate.........
Axismaster said:If trillions of dollars in deficit is moderate, I would hate to see a fiscal liberal in there.

GySgt said:"Let me tell you, war is a nasty business. It sears the soul," he said, choking up. "And it made a difference. The shadow of those killings stay with you the rest of your life."
This is utter Bull ****. Many say this sort of thing because they are looking for pity that they didn't earn and in reality never left a supply desk. The ones that say this sort of thing and has killed on the field of battle...never should have worn the uniform in the first place.
Murtha's Site said:He learned about military service from the bottom up, beginning as a raw recruit when he left Washington and Jefferson College in 1952 to join the Marines out of a growing sense of obligation to his country during the Korean War. There he earned the American Spirit Honor Medal, awarded to fewer than one in 10,000 recruits. He rose through the ranks to become a drill instructor at Parris Island and was selected for Officer Candidate School at Quantico, Virginia. He then was assigned to the Second Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In 1959, Captain Murtha took command of the 34th Special Infantry Company, Marine Corps Reserves, in Johnstown. He remained in the Reserves after his discharge from active duty until he volunteered for Vietnam in 1966-67, receiving the Bronze Star with Combat "V", two Purple Hearts and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He remained in the Reserves until his retirement.

Engimo said:What? He's not fit to have served in the military because he finds killing people emotionally scarring?
Engimo said:Never left a supply desk? You know, it's pretty hard to get two purple hearts and a Bronze Star (for combat) sitting at a supply desk. Why don't you stop marginalizing the man's military service - he did a courageous thing in volunteering to go fight and he certainly experienced combat.
GySgt said:He's fit to wear the uniform, because he did so honorably. What I said wasn't directed to Murtha. I merely said that his statement, which we hear all of the time whether it be from fakers or Hollywood, was bullshit and it is. While many vets have had the occasional nightmare and the normal repercussions that come with combat and close combat, most vets get on with their lives.
Like I said....my comment was general and had nothing to do with Murtha. Why don't you stop defending something that wasn't under attack?
Engimo said:Alright, I'm sorry I misunderstood what you were saying - it just came off as if you were dismissing his emotionality about the war.
GySgt said:He is more politically ambitioned than acting as a former Marine. I know what he studied during his career and he is dismissing it for current loyalties.
Has he put his bid in for the Presidency yet?
Engimo said:He's 73, so I wouldn't count on it.
