I can't believe people actually voted for Bush cause they thought he'd be "better". How could anybody be any worse? What kind of a leader starts wars with countries for profit? What could possibly be worse? Who claims to defend freedom yet threatens it at home with things like the Patriot ACt and this whole wiretapping bullshit? Who appoints people based on busness relations rather then because he actually feels they can do the job? Who could possibly be any worse?
Ahhh Fin...you're dissapointing me.
There is much more going on all over the world with regards to the "War on Terror" than just our actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. WHile these two places are important and must be viewed as a success to the Muslim world there is a more important mission at hand - the IO War against the long-term threat and current ongoing covert operations against existing threats. There is Chad, Ethiopia, Sudan, "Palistine," Syria, Lebanon,
Bosnia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, non-existent prison camps in Europe, International governments, CIA, MI6, and so on.
We are watching numerous Islamic terrorist camps in at least two countries. When individuals leave these camps, they are tracked to other governments where they meet with their comrads. When local governments pick them up, they also pick up intel and plots that lead to other cells and the like.
The Patriot Act and selective wire tapping are a part of that. Ours is not the only government that has taken these kinds of steps to protect its people and to track the threats. Ours seems to be the only ones that has to continually hide from our all seeing and public reporting media. (Our freedoms also endanger us.)
This is much bigger than Americans are naively bickering about. This is much larger than someone's imagined and paranoid visions of losing civil liberties. Some things that are not acceptable in our normal times become necessary during desperate times.
