Rupert Murdoch, chairman of the conservative media empire that owns Fox News, acknowledged in a deposition that several hosts for his networks promoted the false narrative that the election in 2020 was stolen from former President Donald J. Trump, court documents released on Monday showed.
“They endorsed,” Mr. Murdoch said under oath in response to direct questions about the hosts Sean Hannity, Jeanine Pirro, Lou Dobbs and Maria Bartiromo, a legal filing by Dominion Voting Systems said. “I would have liked us to be stronger in denouncing it in hindsight.”

This has to cook their goose. Per past decisions cited by Dominion:

Fox is responsible for all of the statements that it broadcasts not just the words spoken by its hosts. Indeed, a New York court applying New York law in the parallel litigation currently underway in Smartmatic's suit against Fox News and Fox Corporation has definitively held that the statements made by the guests Fox repeatedly booked on its broadcasts, including Powell and Giuliani, are to be treated as statements by Fox itself. Smartmatic USA Corp. v .Fox Corp., No. 151136/2021, 2022 WL 685407, at *22 (N.Y. Sup. Ct. Mar. 08, 2022)
But here, the hosts themselves are endorsing the lies, per Murdoch.

This has to cook their goose. Under law, the hosts speak for the company, per past decisions cited by Dominion.
They should all be fired immediately.

This is just pure propaganda...

It's literally their job, everyone involved knew it was a lie and said it anyway.

Because they knew that was where the money was.

I've said it before: people who were injured or jailed as a result of January 6th should sue. They should sue Fox News, and they should sue any of the individuals who were demonstrably involved in the decision making process to put out that false narrative of the Big Lie. The Capitol police officers should sue because they were injured, and the protesters who were arrested, convicted, jailed, and left broke should also sue because they acted on information that was given to them with known falsity. Maybe their cases get tossed out, but it's worth it to try.

They say that each of us in our lifetime will eat a pound of it but Fox News viewers get their life's portion each evening.

Faux viewers.

'But their opinion hosts...'
"The FCC is prohibited by law from engaging in censorship or infringing on First Amendment rights of the press. It is, however, illegal for broadcasters to intentionally distort the news, and the FCC may act on complaints if there is documented evidence of such behavior from persons with direct personal knowledge."

The FCC should suspend or revoke their license.

They were right about keeping viewership/listeners...I know I was glued to my radio during work commutes, listening to right-wing garbage for months after the election...shaking my head all the way.

This deposition is pretty wild Murdoch 1.webp

Narrator voice: They Didn't

The Deposition also says that they cancelled Pirro's show for a while because they knew that she would act irresponsibly.

They did not do the same thing for Bartirimo when she was booking Sydney Powell.

Man... FoxNews just might be ****ed.

Ruh Roh.

"...Wake-up call for Hannity, who has been privately disgusted by Trump for weeks, but was scared to lose viewers,’” the filing added."

Does this mean no more pillow talk between he and Donny?

I remember the crap she spewed about it to this day. Levin also, though he wasn't part of the Fox brand.

I was against giving Rupert Murdoch permission to buy or broadcast in the US in the first place.

Before he came along, FCC regulations strictly forbade people who were not US citizens from owning any sort of broadcast media. Murdoch became a US citizen in order to get around that restriction.

Network broadcasters don't have FCC licenses. Only the local market broadcasters have licenses. The FCC could only move against the local stations that carry FOX News. And, with the elimination of the regulations (Thank you, president Reagan) that required licensees to "act in the public interests" there is virtually nothing the FCC can do.

Quiet part out loud right here. The Fair and Balanced Network suddenly got concerned with Georgia politics.
Murdoch 4.webp

Man... imagine if anything near to this came out about CNN or MSNNBC... AM Radios across America would be catching on fire.

This does not look good for them in terms of the lawsuit because it's clear they knew the whole thing was bunk and opted to run with it anyway; which includes the stories they pitched about Dominion.
