Be it resolved, don't trust mainstream media - Munk Debate

The famous Canadian debate forum took on the subject of the mainstream media.

And it was resolved in a historic manner. Never before had there been such a swing.

This is no surprise to anyone who has an open mind and has observed the media during the past decades. They simply cannot be trusted, and worse, they have no shame.

Just look at the hoards of false reporting during the Trump years, and not on trivial subjects. Some of these "journalists" won Pulitzers on wholly false stories, and don't have the honor to return them.

COVID misreporting and censorship anyone?

Hunter Biden laptop censorship and misreporting.

It's not news the mainstream media pushes, but narratives, narratives that push the Leftist agenda.

Why do this? Because Leftists cannot win without propagandists masquerading as journalists putting their heavy hand on the scale.

The Twitter, FBI, Hunter Biden laptop, national security "experts" is the latest, and perhaps the most massive breach of journalistic integrity.

It has been resolved. The mainstream media, tech oligarchy cannot be trusted because it is corrupt. It is not news they are regularly providing, but propaganda.

And thank you Elon Musk. You may be responsible for a Great Reset that will do the world good. Restoring freedom of speech and thereby holding the corrupt accountable. And we are off to a great start by focusing on Joe Biden, the FBI and having the tentacles of the mainstream media exposed on this bombshell story that was censored.

This is great MAGA. You hit on Hunter, the FBI, COVID… all well done. The problem is that a true aspiring Ultra MAGA would also have delved into CRT and China and found a way to tie this to Democrats in Chicago. You’re doing a good job with your MAGA but still only scratching the surface, sticking with the old-school “oh the media are meanies” bit. Playing it safe, putting little on the line. No ingenuity.

Don’t get me wrong, this gets you on Mike Lindell’s radar, but it’s not the level of performance expected out of Mar-a-Lago.

As a suggestion, try connecting the media with CRT, and use this to explain how Herschel Walker was the victim of massive electoral fraud. That should elevate your MAGA substantially.

Honorable mention of Hillary's Butter E-Mails would give extra credit here.

ITS ALL A CONSPIRACY!

The discussion was "Be it resolved, don't trust the mainstream media". The biggest vote change margin in the history of the debate forum. Are you claiming these Canadians are stupid? Suckers? Morons?

Why not listen to the debate and then comment? You might learn something.

Perhaps there is collusion. There is a history of this with the JournoList Group.

How do you get the media parroting the same phrases from one network to the next. The latest being the criticism of Taibbi and Musk. It is uncanny. The same phrase used dozens of times across the mainstream media.

JournoList (sometimes referred to as the J-List)[1] was a private Google Groups forum for discussing politics and the news media with 400 left-leaning[2] journalists, academics and others. Ezra Klein created the online forum in February 2007 while blogging at The American Prospect and shut it down on June 25, 2010 amid wider public exposure. Journalists later pointed out various off-color statements made by members of the list denigrating conservatives. Others defended such statements as being taken out of context or simply a matter of private candor.

Munk Debate put the question out there, and the change in vote was historic.

There is a reason why people do not trust the media, and it seems Leftists here are just as pathetic at defending the media as their NY Times and New Yorker brethren at the Munk Debates.

I don't see a cogent rebuttal as to why the media should be trusted. Judging from the early and juvenile replies, I don't expect to see one.

How can the media be trusted after their misreporting massive stories or ignoring massive stories? They can't be.

Fool me once has become to Leftists: Fool me a thousand times and I will happily consume any crap you feed me so long as it serves the party.

Not to worry.

Most Americans do not trust the media.

That is why most media companies are in big financial trouble.

That fact warms the cockles of my heart.

(So happy that the employees of the New York Times are on strike.)

If the purpose of the discussion was that one should not trust the mainstream conservative media and their massive influence then we stand in agreement. You raise some good points about the pervasive influence of Sinclair Media on countless millions. What do you think should be done about Sinclair and Fox and their misinformation campaigns?

Do the Journolists hide under your bed at night?

Like everything else people like this guy put forward, it's all bullshit. I wonder where they were 'groomed' to think you can't trust the news? I wonder if trump telling them the press is the enemy of the people has anything to do with their opinion?

The purpose is clear, but only a few posts in you seem to have derailed yourself. Forgotten, or illustrated your memory is poor or you are desperate to change the subject.

The home page of this website has the discussion title, and it is repeated in the initial posting:

But you fail to list said "bullshit".

You fail to make the case to support your claim. That is not debate. You only offer "opinion", and unsubstantiated opinion at that.

Why not provide us with your evidence and we can see how or if you think, or just whine a lot.

Further, are you claiming the audience at the debate was "groomed" to a historic decision? Could it be the defense, represented by the New Yorker and NY Times failed spectacularly to defend that which there is no defense? Remember, the resultant change from this debate was historic.

Your emotional whine in the face of what happened in the Munk Debate makes you look silly.

Be it resolved never trust Trumpsters, they are all lying Q supporting idiots

The resolution has passed

Mainstream media includes OAN, FoxNews/Pravda, and H8 Radio.

Really? Just what was the historic resultant change? I must have missed it.

Is this considered debate here?

Such commentary can only come from individuals who are incapable of debating the issue at hand.
When we debate, we like to start with a reasonable premise. Otherwise there is no reason to not just have fun.

Reasonable premise? Like one of the greatest debate forums discussed trust and the mainstream media, and the audience reached a historic conclusion?

That there is a 1:38:54 video, largely about debate and you find nothing there?

You do not debate. That is obvious.

Only people invested in MAGA drama believe this is a real topic and I tend to reserve debate to people who I see making good and thoughtful arguments.

Then why insert yourself into discussions you have zero intent to debate in?

To date, Taibbi and Murray won by the largest margin ever recorded at a Munk Debate. The result stunned the sold-out crowd of 2,630 viewers normally accustomed to smaller swings.
