Multiple victims in Michigan church shooting; church on fire, police say

So no real specifics? You said: “Tell that to everyone that brings up the fact that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican”
Whom is this you speak of whom brought up Abraham was a Republican? Post number would be helpful.
You're kidding me, right? Are you new to DP? Lincoln and all Republicans that followed him are the only ones that truly fight for racial equalities. Then y'all name some Democrat from the sixties who started a local chapter of the KKK when he was 25, and that puts Dems firmly on the wrong side of racial justice.

By "a few decades ago", I assume you mean prior to 1968 - six decades ago.
No, prior to the 90’s.
Because over the last decade, since McDonald & Heller, I don't remember guns ever having been easier to get or more prevalent.
Because you don’t know anything about gun laws.
In fact, just recently silencers have become not just legal - but no longer subject to a high federal excise tax.
Silencers have always been legal. The unconstitutional NFA tax stamp requirement was repealed. The NFA itself will soon be ruled unconstitutional in its entirety.

You, as the poster who doesn't live in this country, has no citizenship to this country, lost the debate when you insulted the feelings of US citizens, (by using ad hominem fallacy) who think and feel, and have experienced that their country is the best place to live.
So you do know what an ad hominem fallacy is... coulda fooled me given your track record.

I will say that Trumpism has made me appreciate what we are losing all the more.

Leadership flows from the top, hecatmoggie.

who are the leaders of these left liberal wacko's that are trans and LGBTQ and Christian/Conservative haters ?

Yeah, keep on telling yourself that trump's divisiveness has nothing to do with both sides being chronically pissed off.

fine

the Trump Hate has a lot to do with it, you're right

we live in a 2025 world where you can't disagree .... disagree with liberal ideology and there will be protests/riots/violence, your churches might get shot up, assassinations are happening .....

TDS is real

Nah….just asking questions. ;)

You're asserting guns were more easily available in the eighties?

You shouldn't have been so disingenuous in your personalizing this, as I could now do the same in response to your error; but I'll politely refrain.

What you don't seem to get is that trump has been stoking divisiveness since 2015. People on both sides are angrier than ever. And that has an effect.
you're right, the hate has exponentially grown from the liberal left

Evil isn't a new thing, it's been around as long as man. But poke people hard enough and long enough, and they can turn sh!tty.
nobody is poking liberals - we disagree, and that's all that's needed

Combine that with the easy availability of guns, and you get trump-era America.
with freedoms come responsibilities

you never blame knife availability for people using knives to kill people do ya ?

You're asserting guns were more easily available in the eighties?

in the 1980's I could buy ammunition while I was in high school
we took guns to our school campus and hung them in the back of our trucks
no background checks

guns were more available in the 1980's yes

who are the leaders of these left liberal wacko's that are trans and LGBTQ and Christian/Conservative haters ?

That would be trump as well. You see, the president is the titular leader of the whole country. He sets the tone.

The right's track record on all of this stuff is way worse.

TDS is indeed real.

Mass shootings may seem to have a motive, but I think of them as suicidal acts - murder-suicide just so we avoid euphemization. Am guessing whoever did this likely had some sort of mental health crisis and chose this as his grand exit.

My thoughts too. This seems like a mental health case where the targets were’t a primary motivating factor as much as the desire for the shooter to attain infamy by whatever means necessary.

What you don't seem to get is that trump has been stoking divisiveness since 2015. People on both sides are angrier than ever. And that has an effect.

What I get is people have become increasingly politically polarized, and Trump is a lighting rod for the left. But this militant, uncivil, leftist bullshit predates Trump. His original election in 2016 was partly a result of it.

I don’t think anyone’s been poked more than Christians. Many of the early ones were killed thanks to their unwavering faith in the love and grace of God. Only one of Jesus’ original disciples is said to have died of old age. The rest were martyred—violently, except for Judas, who committed suicide.

You're asserting guns were more easily available in the eighties?
Not an assertion. I’m pointing out it’s an objective fact they were more easily accessible in the 80’s. Google “Brady bill”
You shouldn't have been so disingenuous in your personalizing this, as I could now do the same in response to your error; but I'll politely refrain.
I’ve made no error. I correctly pointed out guns were more readily available and easily obtainable just a few decades ago. I’m pointing out guns have nothing to do with the issue.

Damn - wow.... unconfirmed reports that the man drove his truck into the building then used an incendiary device in an apparent attempt to start a large fire quickly - likely trying to burn down the church with everyone still in it
I'm sure glad the FBI has shifted their personal to arresting Trump's enemies and deporting mothers and their children.

/S

You are but one data point.

Where are the Christian riots? I’ve seen many vigils and makeshift memorials for Charlie Kirk, but no riots. The only violence I’ve seen came from people who hated Kirk—stomping on a memorial or disrupting a vigil. This latest incident will be no different. Many tears, candles, prayers, and flowers, but no violence beyond that of an angry, spiteful, hateful leftist. 🤷‍♂️

The truck involved in the Michigan LDS church had Iraq Veteran tags, reportedly.

The NC restaurant shooter was a combat veteran as well.

Yes. Some people are reporting his name as Thomas Jacob Sanford. No confirmation though.

So you are blaming the left for what happened to Trayvon Martin? You just won the Gold Medal for Mental Gymnastics.

Yes, we had some political polarization before trump. Newt Gingrich comes to mind. But other presidents have dutifully been unifying figures, or have tried to be.

trump is a lightning rod because he chooses to be. Divisiveness is his game. That's his whole schtick. You have to be blind and deaf not to get that.

2000 years ago. Like Louis C.K. says, Christianity won. What year is it? 2025 A.D.

trump is poking the sh!t out of a ton of people right now. Don't even attempt to play dumb on that subject.

Setting the church on fire seems to indicate a grievance with the mormon church. Or that church specifically (or temple not sure what they call them). Could be a parishioner (or whatever the mormons call them)
