The Iraqi government's brutal attack on Camp Ashraf in Iraq, home of 3,400 Iranian members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), has shocked the world. The pictures and clips sent by Ashraf residents to outside world shows a real massacre has been going on there since July 28 in that camp. The horrifying scenes of Iraqi police and special forces attacking the unarmed residents of Camp Ashraf, beating them with batons, metallic and wooden sticks, shooting at those unarmed refugees with bullets and killing them leaves no doubt that a human catastrophe and crime against humanity has taken place down there by Nouri Maliki. At least 12 residents have been killed so far; most of the killed are shot by the Iraqi forces machine guns or snipers; 500 have been injures, 25 of them seriously and some in critical condition and 36 have been arrested by the Iraqi forces and transferred to an unknown location.
Ashraf residents are protected persons according to the Fourth Geneva Convention. The United States had agreement with them to protect them. But the US forces that were stationed there did nothing but watching that tragedy.
As an American interested in a free and democratic Iran, my address is with Obama not with the criminal Maliki who is following the line of clerical regime ruling Iran in suppressing Ashraf residents.
Mr. Obama, didn't the US forces sign agreement with Ashraf residents to protect them, didn't State Department announce that it will be committed to its obligation of protecting Ashraf residents? Then why you made a deal with Maliki to do this crime against humanity? Is the price of appeasement with Iran's mullahs to sacrifice an unarmed opposition so cowardly? shame on you.
