It is based on his dereliction of duty since January 2017 but especially since the Republicans losing the majority in the House of Representatives in the 2018 election. Seldom, if ever, has there been compromise on matters of national importance. Even more egregious is his complete and total surrender on behalf of the Federal Government in fighting the Corona Virus. So I posit that being President and--and I'm not speaking of the legal protections of the job, the attention he garners and craves, or the obvious graft--doing the actual duties is not important to him at all. He just doesn't want to be branded a loser.

Correct. But this is just one of the great many areas where Trump has all but forgotten he is President. I just wish we all could forget it as well.

The role of "healer in chief" was obscured by political overtones about blue states....

Believing Russia over his own intel assets...

Pushing false remedies for the virus instead of relying on science....

His wife going down to the border with "I don't care...." spray painted on her jacket.... and nary a word about it much less of the obvious apology that was called for.

Actually no. The one term mistakes refusal to listen to the experts in infectious diseases and his "taking the country back from the doctors" has made the infection worse than any other nation in the world. So Mr, One and done can claim responsibility for the fatalities long after his failed term is but a distant memory 6 months later. Biden will get all the credit for stopping the epidemic and saving 1000's of lives.

Not nearly as close as in 2016 when the one term mistake won the election by 75,000 votes in the 3 blue States. The irony about that victory is that it was totally because of the votes of socialist Bernie supporters who made the difference in the 3 blue States.
