Most major metropolitan areas have become more racially segregated, study shows

i still have a cousin that watches Andy Griffith all the time.

and don't get me wrong, that's a great show. but my cousin is a massive racist and it's not really a secret why he consumes what he does. it was a "simpler" time. ;)
Actually, I never watched a single episode of the Andy Griffith Show (or I was too young to remember it if I did). Let me guess: a bad representation of a black person?

I never said all Blacks were criminals. Most Black people are peaceful, I say that without any sarcasm.

Given that most Blacks are peaceful, why don't we see an influx of White liberals moving into Baltimore and de-segregating areas of the city?

Property values.

it's based in a small town in NC with no blacks (or none that i can remember). there ?may? have been a black guy in an episode but i can't remember it.

anyway, it is funny (in a goofy way). it also teaches some decent lessons. Ron Howard was the son.

my cousin, who is still stuck on it, wasn't allowed to watch shows with blacks when he was a kid. do i need to say more?

Oh, and blaming black people exclusively for their problems, and putting all of the onus on them to improve themselves, when many of those problems are a result of racism is... well, kinda racist. Ibram Kendi discusses this quite a bit in Stamped From the Beginning. Or, as Ezra Klein points out, " if you ask a man who’s starting 200 yards behind in a race to catch up, you’re simply asking him to fail."
I'm curious. Assuming you agree with the statement, "Married White parents are stronger financially than single White mothers", would you be willing to substitute the word Black in there?

- Create more low-income and affordable housing in more diverse neighborhoods
- Preserve housing, so that gentrification doesn't have to drive minorities out of neighborhoods
If crime comes along with 'low income', Whites will move out. If standards of behavior aren't raised (they won't be with a leftist agenda), the only option there would be to prevent Whites (at least those that are well off) from choosing where to live.

Parents should emphasize the value of more integrated schools, and choose schools and neighborhoods that are more integrated
- Encourage universities to prioritize integrated schools in the admissions process

Minority schools should emphasize the value of higher academic standards. I've noticed this a lot with leftist solutions - just get rid of the symptom and not the cause.

The high crime in Black areas isn't imaginary, the media reminds us constantly. According to the left, it's caused by White racism. However, that doesn't give solace to White parents that have to consider bullets flying around when choosing where to live.

On one hand a White family is told that Blacks in Baltimore have high crime because of their racism. On the other, they must consider the actual conditions in that area, compared to other locations.

The latter consideration far outweighs the woke (and fake) sentiment of the former, which is why segregation will continue to get worse.
Looking forward to your source where the left claims crime is caused by white racism. If you said systemic racism you'd have a point.

Of course, the vast majority of white people say they've no problem having people of other color/ethnicity moving into the neighborhood. Yet for some reason, that isn't happening. Especially the living next door example. I wonder why.

Are you espousing that black people are racists??!

This is one weird post.

Systemic racism exists because of White racism towards Blacks, one caused the other. The term 'systemic' makes it easier for laws to be changed, which goes along with the increased importance of CRT regarding changing the entire system.

You are right! It should say parents (not schools)
exactly. minority parents (or poorer parents like in Appalachia) don't want excellent education for their kids.

They WANT it, they don't put it up front in the priority list and sacrifice to get it.. No one is starving to death in the US.

how in the holy hell would you know what every minority or poor person has as their priority list? you know them all?

what are the priority lists of all white people and all non-poor Americans?

Not EVERY. Those are your words. If it was priority they would not be shown to be as far lacking as they are currently shown to be lacking in the educational arena. Or crime. Or out of wedlock babies.

Those are all choices, made by the very people, you are excusing the behaviors for. Personal responsibility would go a long long way in helping the black community.

Poor communities tend to have poor schools. Are you just realizing this?

1. People of color may wish to think twice about the idea of integrated housing.

2. Here in Los Angeles, there is an area called Boyle Heights near downtown.

a. It has long been a predominately low-rent area for Hispanic people (originally referred to as Mexican Americans or Chicanos).

3. Gentrification is a euphemism for Caucasians moving into the area. They buy houses and fix them up. They start trendy cafes, etc. Soon the property values soar and -- many locals who have been living there for decades discover to their horror that they can no longer afford to live in that area.

4. Boyle Heights is represented in the City Council by a Hispanic gentleman.

a. Recently, there was some minor vandalism against some trendy stores.
b. He urged residents to be peaceful and not take out their frustration through anger.
c. He said that changes are occurring and that they must be faced through rational means.

Not fully on board with your explanation, but you still didn't provide a source for your claim...

Good news! There's no evidence that minorities moving into white neighborhoods increase crime. That's one of the conclusions of the report, by the way. You're just indulging in racist heuristics.

Oh, and guess what? Plenty of whites (and affluent non-whites) move into gentrifying neighborhoods, despite higher crime rates. Care to explain...?

If standards of behavior aren't raised (they won't be with a leftist agenda), the only option there would be to prevent Whites (at least those that are well off) from choosing where to live.
Right. So rather than rely on data, you're just going to dog-whistle and pick yet another deliberately inflammatory option that no one is making. What a surprise.

Minority schools should emphasize the value of higher academic standards. I've noticed this a lot with leftist solutions - just get rid of the symptom and not the cause.

Yet more straw man nonsense. Yawn....

Ultimately, and this is the crux of the problem - homes owned by whites increase in value more than homes owned by non-whites - in their respective communities - even when their incomes are the same.

Poor communities tend to have poor schools. Are you just realizing this?

1. Blacks move into a white community.
2. Whites move out - taking the housing values and tax base with them.
3. The community's tax base declines as do government services like schools.
4. The decline of value leads to government placing drug treatment, subsidized housing in the community.
5. Crime goes up.

Not because blacks moved in, but because whites moved out.

I think it's self evident that systemic racism is enforced by laws and policies that were designed by racist White people. CRT seeks to dismantle those racist laws:

..examines social, cultural and legal issues as they relate to race and racism.

We'll go through some rather embarrassing tosses and turns, but eventually capitalism itself will be declared racist.
