WASHINGTON - Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their grip on Congress in November. With less than four months to the midterm elections, the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that Americans by an almost 3-to-1 margin hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard and profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule.
Further complicating the GOP outlook to turn things around is a solid percentage of liberals, moderates and even conservatives who say they'll vote Democratic. The party out of power also holds the edge among persuadable voters, a prospect that doesn't bode well for the Republicans.

Well, the Reps. in congress had 12 years of unrestrained power and look what's happened. So the voters know the Reps can cause havoc; they just want to give the Dem's a try.
If I were Harry Reid or Nancy Polosi, I wouldn't play my hand right yet either. It's four months until the elections; it's smart to wait until closer to the elections to unveil their plans. Right now, The GOP would attack their plan to straighten out the country, and would continue to do so until election day. After all, the so called "Contract with America" was not unveiled until weeks before the 1994 elections.
And as for right now, The republican party is imploding. Why shouldn't the Dem's not juststand back and watch it happen? The Dems are saving all of their ammo until full campaign season, As long as the Reps continue this meltdown, they are doing the Dem's job for them.

As far as I have seen, the Dem message this year is "We're not Bush; we're not the GOP".
That was the same message as 2002 and 2004. How'd that work for them?

Dems have nothing to offer.
The GOP will remain victorious, though our confidence is shallow.
...even though they are corproaret slaves, just as they claim the GOP is.ShamMol said:They can show that they will not bow down to the corporations
Except for interests like the NEA, the AFT, the AARP, the Sierra club, etc -- but those special interests are OK.and will in fact not grovel at the feet of special interests.
Youlre kidding, right?This economy sucks.
Yes. And he LIED to the American people when he said that "this is the wors economy in 50 years".Bill Clinton brought out the fact that its the economy (stupid) that wins elections.
....for the sake of change, as their version of "progress" has brought us nothing, and they cannot say what sort of change they will make to "improve" things. They are agents of change...
Even though they kow-tow to the priveledged, just as they say the GOP does.Washington is for not just for the priveledged Americans...
How?Jobs For Americans
And we're willing to bankrupt the country to prove it!!and We Care about the Seniors
it means they're lying through their teeth to get it.That will ensure Democrats a victory, even if...

Bush said it and the right wing agrees....if you say it enough people might actually start to believe it. It sounds as if you are even starting to convince yourself.
-The culture of corruption is BS? Have you looked at the number of Republican hypocrites that have fallen during the last few years? Even the staunchest of Republicans would have to say that this is a problem for the GOP. Simply saying that it is "bogus" isn't going to cut it. The American public has lost a lot of confidence in the integrity of the GOP and they recognize it. Do you really want to be reminded of the long list of how the mighty have fallen?
-The economy is soaring? What planet are you on? I love how Bush himself is pretty restrained when talking about the economy, but the Bush apologists tout the economy as "booming", "soaring", etc.
-the Rove thing was a joke? Are you serious? Have you followed the news over the last year? Rove may not have been indicted, but are you willing to try to take the moral high ground and say that Rove was not involved in any way? I don't believe even Rove is saying this.
-Yes, troops will begin to come home...but only after the Democrats take control of the Congress and Bush no longer has Carte Blanche to exercise his every whim.
.....unbelievable.

It would appear that things aren't looking so hot for the GOP....but does that really come as a surprise to anyone with everything that's come out in the past year or so?
Too bad the Republicans on the Hill are too busy worrying about petty issues, rather than focusing on things that might actually make a difference to their voters.

Once they declared OH for Bush, giving him 269 EV, I fell asleep.
By the sounds of things, you started drinking
I think you just explained why you lost.aps said:I just couldn't believe how I clearly underestimated the stupidity of the American people.
And I don't understand why you think you should win elections when you openly thnk that people that dont vote for your guy are stupid.I still can't understand you Bush apologists.

"If you dont agree with us, you're stupid!!"

aps said:Goobieman, George Bush LIED to us about why we should invade Iraq. How can anyone want someone who would lie about such an important issue as president? It has nothing to do with the fact that Bush is a republican. If it was another republican, I could see how people would vote for him. But for Bush? I just could not fathom how anyone could forgive him for such a mistake. And that's why I felt the way I did.
I am a huge democrat; however, if it was a democrat who lied to us to get us into Iraq, I would NOT have voted for that democrat.
Frankly Stinger, the Contract for America was a Republican idea. Democrats all have different ideas of what they would and nobody knows what the Democrats as a whole will do. So, stop it. Individuals will run individual campaigns and they will say what they will do.Stinger said:Not one specific thing in your entire post. Try again, what will they do if they win? The "We're for the people" baloney don't fly.
