More Than Half-Million People Could Leave US This Year

More Than Half-Million People Could Leave US This Year
You say that like it's a bad thing.

Why?

It looks like hundreds of thousands of Americans are finally waking up to the fact that Donald Trump is turning the US into a 3rd-world sh*thole and are making plans to head for the exits. Who can blame them? "The U.S. could see hundreds of thousands leave the country this year thanks to President Donald Trump's immigration agenda, but experts believe his aggressive campaign of deportations and entry limitations could shrink the foreign-born labor force to the detriment of the economy. In a paper recently published by the conservative-leaning American Enterprise Institute (AEI), researchers estimated that U.S. net migration could end up between a negative 525,000 and 115,000 this year, which they said reflects "a dramatic decrease in inflows and somewhat higher outflows." This compares to nearly 1.3 million in 2024, according to Macrotrends, and 330,000 in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic brought global travel to an abrupt standstill. If their lower-end forecasts prove correct, it would represent the first time the U.S. has seen negative net migration in decades."

All evidence to the contrary.

And before MAGA as*holes ask me why I'm not joining them let me say that I would in a New York minute except that I'm 75 and just not in good enough shape to make a dash for the exits like the smart ones packing their bags.
I'm not 75, and I'm still working.

Sit back and relax. Things are improving.

Cool Chicken Little rant.
I thought OP was the Chicken Little rant.

Yes, there will be a higher than normal number of people leaving the U.S. That's what happens when the government gets serious about controlling the border and deporting illegal immigrants.
People are leaving because the US does not have a future, and people wants to move to a country where they are respected and not hated.

Really, so where would they go for that? To a country defended by the U.S.?

The "negative net migration" that the OP article is talking about is the actual goal MAGA Republicans have, those that they are expecting to leave or be deported all failed the whiteness nationalist test. The economics of this is not very relevant to the political ideology, and what few are talking about is the net negative migration in concert with economic direction suggests the supply demand curve for everything from labor to goods and services is about to see one hell of an aggregate shift. And that is inflationary, because it is artificial. It will take time to find new equilibriums (as everyone is seeing with this TACO temper tantrum multiple way trade war Trump enjoys inflicting on all of us.)

"Winning!" (or so MAGAs tell themselves.)

If the majority of those leaving are libruls, that's a positive.

As a European, this post is hilariously inaccurate.

Urgent action needed to stop the spread of radical Islam in the EU

On 21 May, Le Figaro published a report on a study commissioned by three French Government ministries which highlights a terrifying truth that can no longer be ignored: radical Islam is spreading like wildfire throughout Europe, the result of an elaborate, predetermined plan which makes use of religious dissimulation, one of the main tenets of Islamic fundamentalism.

Widely adopted (including by the EU) and favoured by a number of parties, open-door policies have failed miserably, and do not comprehend that we have values and roots which we must defend, and that fundamentalist conspiracies of any kind cannot be allowed to supplant them. This is the biggest challenge of the future, one that institutions must take seriously, especially at the EU level.

We must put a stop to the widespread dissemination of a worldview that is based on principles that are diametrically opposed to western law and values. Organisations like the Muslim Brotherhood preach violence and anti-Semitism, indoctrinate children and are potentially being funded by terrorist organisations: they are the internal enemy that we must fight if our centuries-old culture is to survive.

In the light of the above:

  • 1.Was the Commission aware of the French Government report’s findings? What measures will the Commission implement to tackle the spread of radical Islam?
  • 2.Will the Commission, as a precautionary measure, suspend all forms of funding for initiatives aimed at spreading the Islamic faith?

It's not the open door policy that's the problem, it's the open door policy combined with a welfare state. When an immigrant came to the US in the early 20th century they didn't get shit. Not only did they get nothing for free, but they were often hated and openly discriminated against. And yet they came anyway - because they came for opportunity, not handouts. The welfare state ruined immigration, because it attracts the wrong kind of immigrant, and because now any immigrant is looked upon by the natives as an immediate financial burden.

🤣

A question posed by a right-wing populist??? That's your evidence??? 🤣

It is something my family has been seriously considering. We are exploring options, but have made no decision yet.
The US used to be a beacon of integrity and possibility in the world, where no one was above the law.
Now the law seems to bend at the whim of the wealthy and powerful.
Yes, that has always been true to some extent, but it is much worse now.
Now the court system has become corrupted and broken, as is government at the highest levels.
Integrity is no longer needed, and in fact seems to be disdained as a weakness.
We have a leader without integrity, without character, and without any moral backbone.
It’s sad.

This is what happens when you close an open door.

What door was open?

The US southern border.

If it was as simple as that then these half million+ people planning to leave would be saying, "Hey, Trump closed the border. He's fixing things. We're not leaving. We're going to stay because with those dirty sponging brown skins shut out, America will now start recovering and things will be better." Right?

But that NOT what these people are saying. They're saying, "Trump and the Republicans are f*cking up America. Shutting out the brown skins doesn't make up for the insane cost of living here with 1-bedroom apartments renting for $2100 and a carton of good eggs costing $9 and utilities cost $400 a month and health insurance costing $900 a month and crazy kids open fire on other kids with AK-47's. We simply cannot survive here. We're not safe here. We want to go to a new country where there isn't the culture of violence and groceries are reasonably priced and we don't have a President who celebrates rape of women and opening takes bribes from the wealthy and arrests US citizens and ships them to foreign intern camps with impunity."

That's why people are leaving the US.

You can keep your racist comments to yourself.

Donald Trump is among the most insane depraved "things" this country has ever spit out of its rectum--at a level with serial killers and other profligates. That MAGA morons in here and elsewhere continue to support and defend this orange degenerate piece of sh*t shows just how deep into the gutter they have sunk themselves. It's unfathomable how otherwise somewhat decent people will defend this orange racist corrupt scumbag. It's like their brain has been drained of every bit of sensibility and reason humans can muster. As a nation MAGA has f*cked this country--like FUBAR. Trump is the reason people are leaving.

Nasty hating post.

Yeh, the kind of person I am is a person who recognizes reality. Most Americans who are unhappy with our country plan, I presume, to move to the progressive nations in Europe. I think if they make such a move they will be in for a big surprise. Progressive European countries consider themselves to be "post-Christian." What those countries actually are is "pre-Islamic." So Americans emigrating to Europe better enjoy Europe's proudly "post-Christian" moment while they can. The last time around Europe fought a very bloody 1000 years or so of war to prevent Islamic domination. Are they going to be lucky again?
In order to preserve and defend Western Civilization, you first have to love it.

It is estimated [I've posted CBO and figures from organizations elsewhere to back this up] that the undocumented account for alost $400B is fed, state and local taxes and nearly $900B of our overall economy.

It is going to be interesting when these folks see the results of what the removal of that does to our economy.

Careful what you wish for MAGA.
