A deadly crash caused by an illegal Indian immigrant driving and 18 wheeled truck took 3 lives. Harjinder Singh made the illegal turn last Tuesday from northbound lanes of Florida's Turnpike about 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of West Palm Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The trucking company Singh was driving for, White Hawk Carriers, should draw some scrutiny. But perhaps we are looking for trouble in all the wrong places.

Companies need workers and will take who they can. Perhaps a better immigration system that allows more people in but with better resources for them when they get here is what is in order.

Saw this days ago, and the whole status/CDL thing aside, my thought was WTF was he thinking?

He even appeared to look at his mirror before turning what was essentially a brick wall across an interstate.

Poor people didn't stand a chance.

There's a reason it's illegal to turn around in an emergency vehicle U-turn, and this is it. Especially in a damn tractor trailer. Just dumb.

From a right wing perspective, the higher castes are in-line with the right wing "meritocracy" narrative, even if they're still a bit "alien". The lower caste Indians... not so much. Far more "third world" and not dissimilar to Africans and Arabs which the right already don't care for.

Conversely from a left wing perspective, Indians are a brown outgroup which is an instant plus. Unfortunately, they hail from an extremely conservative and racist culture and are extremely nepotistic and clannish. Also problematic views on women. It's going to be difficult for liberals to reconcile narratives of inherently virtuous outgroups with particular outgroups which are far more conservative and racist than your average MAGAtard.

Uhm. It kind of is considering we're talking about the composition of nations.

I think conservatives have some point when they talk about possibility of assimilation. For instance in Europe: will all-consuming liberalism make Islam gay, or will Islam halt liberal progress? I suspect the former and Muslims in European nations will follow a similar trajectory to Christians and secularize.

Now to be fair, race/ethnicity is far more complex. I don't see why high-caste Indians should want to buy into liberal rugged individualism when their clannishness seems to work well for them and their community. I also don't think liberalism offers a compelling solution to the crisis of limited resources in a system which hosts a number of different groups with varied levels of wealth.
